Australia famously restricted gun rights after the ‘96 Port Arthur gun massacre claimed 35 lives.
When you think how hard it is (unless trained) to stab someone to death. Unless this person was military trained with knives (six is a high number for a blade) so many more would have died with bullets. Those poor people. Be interesting to see how a saner population handles this.

I imagine if the Australia had gun laws like the USA there would be more mall shootings than mall stabbings.
The criminal was shot dead by a police officer anyway.
Quick thoughts - crazies always find a way. Take away firearms as the tool of choice and the US would still have mass casualty events far exceeding any other developed nation. The US had violence problem, not a gun problem
Guns should be banned in all across the world but to the essential situations such as legal personal defence. More guns truly equal to more crimes.

Restricted is an understatement, they banned everything, we have done similar in the UK in stages and plenty of guns still turn up both illegal and originally legal but just long forgotten service revolvers and rifles
