You need to figure out your asthma triggers and stay away from them that is really the best cure. A good place to start with is completely eliminating anything with a scent in it like soaps, detergents, and perfumes. Use free and gentle chemicals for bathing, laundry, and dish washing. And when you are cleaning with chemicals or just cleaning anything in general then always use a mask and gloves. I did all this and i haven't had to take any medications for years. Although i do think i have some permanent lung damage because when i get sick with a cold i do get some shortness of breath but it's usually temporary and goes away when the cold passes. But i do think long term asthma does probably decreases life expectancy because it's weakening your lungs causing them to be more susceptible to infections. So the quicker you figure out your asthma triggers then the less amount of permanent damage to your lungs.
