I don't know. I don't understand. It. Based on what I understand. Alimony exist. So government don't need to pay to divorced women. In past it used to make sense. Because many women didn't used to work. But now? Hmmm. There should at least be some limit on alimony. Getting half of everything is insane to me. Alimony should be limited to enough wealth that they can live middle class lifestyle. Not billion of dollar.

Your brother isn’t your husband. Or at least, he shouldn’t be. If he is, you have much bigger issues to deal either than alimony.

Some alimony, enough until they find a new job? That’s a great idea. I’m sure you have some suggestions. Where would you recommend a woman could get a job with enough income to support herself, and possibly children, when she’s been out of the workforce for 20+ years? I’m sure you know pouring coffee doesn’t pay the bills.

Marrying a rich man and taking his money isn’t okay. People who do that are predatory. Adding hard limits like you are suggesting will, in the end, hurt the most vulnerable.

I do not believe that simply marrying someone entitles you to half their assets, just so you know. However, if you have assets, and you want to get married. Get a prenup, or you’re asking for trouble.

I don't support the use of alimony for no reason. If a spouse (husband or wife, i dont care who) breaks the contract and id proven to have done so beyond a reasonable doubt, that is when alimony should in place as a punishment for violating it.

Way to often we see it being used against people who didn't break the contract or if they broke it mutually and it is such a disgusting misuse of it.

Yeah I even stayed home. People can actually get a job which is exactly what women who think they deserve. Alimony should be doing. It's also of interest to note that men virtually never get alimony or that they can work or not.

I didn't stay home and I hate autocorrect. I have always worked since I was a teenager. My ex on the other hand thought it was a good idea to quit working as soon as we got married. Unfortunately for her she still didn't collect any alimony.
