I don't know exactly what you're getting out here. We have laws and within those laws specific crimes are defined very carefully. For the most part. Everyone knows or should know what those are. If you break a law and you get caught you are going to get in some trouble. That is not so much an intrusion on your freedom as it is a protection for the freedoms of others that you might otherwise have infringed upon. Like it or not living in a society with others means you are not exactly free to do absolutely anything you want.

so my theory on lizard tails is this. if they think you want to eat them they drop their tails in hopes the predator takes it as a snack. it gives the lizard time to get away. i doubt dinosaurs had this type of function but i wouldn't rule it out.
