I got charged $1400 to install a $100 fan motor that only took the tech an hour to install. This is a rental property so at the time I was like let's just get the ac back on for the tenants, now two weeks later I'm like man I was way overcharged. $800-$900, fine but $1400? I get that everything is marked up etc, but still. I've seen several complaints online about how the same company overcharged others also. I'm going to call them and be like wait a minute now, you guys need to credit me back some money here. Opinions? I suppose I could dispute the credit card charge, but I think that only works if it's a fraudulent charge.

They ripped you off for sure. Didn't you get a guesstimate for the job? If you agreed with it and told them to do the job I don't think you have any recourse. If they didn't tell you how much it would cost that might be a different matter. I hope you will not be using them again and leave them a nice review. I hate people like that who take advantage of you when you are in dire straights. 🤑🤑 🤬
What should I do? Dispute it on my credit card?
Depends if you knew what they were charging you.
Why did you sign the document and agree to the repairs?
I didn't sign shit. He was going to send over the quote for me to sign, but never did.
When it's 95 degrees in the people need ac. Just didn't realize how bad I was getting stiffed. Would have thought I could have looked over the quote before giving the go ahead, but he skipped that step. I would have said we'll how much is the motor?
Then why did you pay for something you didn't agree to?
Well the tech kind of scammed me by starting the work at the same time he was supposed to email over documents to sign. Like I said I just wanted it fixed so the tenant could have working ac, didn't really occur to me that the price was a rip off until a few days later.
It's just one of those things I guess. You want to keep the tenant happy, so I guess you're just going to pay more for repairs than if I was the one living at the place. Doesn't mean I can't still bitch at them and attempt to get some money back. Lol
