Funny how the people most opposed to welfare are also the people most opposed to abortion (and in extreme cases contraception)... and practically nobody ever brings up the topic of state-sanctioned suicide.

So... you don't want people to have the means to live, but you don't want them to die either. So what exactly do you want from them? Most of them aren't qualified enough to get the sorts of jobs that would let them escape poverty because qualifications also require money. Lots of money.

The fact is that homelessness and extreme poverty are an inevitable consequence of capitalism. In a situation where everything is for sale it takes money to live, and not everyone can get that money because the greedy arseholes at the top will forever regard even a barely stable situation as an opportunity to siphon even more money away. Their greed won't allow them NOT to drive people into poverty, and then whinge and whine because people need basic money to live. And whose fault is that? Hmm?
The people selling the food COULD lower the prices, but that would cut into their profits, so they won't.
The people charging rent COULD lower the prices, but that would cut into their profits, so they won't.
All these people could make living cheaper, and enable the poor to get by with minimum wage jobs and not require welfare... but that would cut into their profits, so they won't.

Basically what you're complaining about is not that these people are "begging for money", but that people don't have a right to continue existing once you're done taking everything they had.

Every good Capitalist yearns for free labor, or at least as free as he can make it. You still have to feed, clothe, and provide a little medical care for slaves, but they spontaneously reproduce, and you can beat a LOT of labor out of them. This is a much better deal than having to actually PAY people.

No they would feed them because if they don't feed them they can't work. Instead, they would just give them lousy food and bad medical care and would just generally not take good care of them or at least spend as little money as they could on them. Kind of like they do now with everything else except themselves.

The state of Maine relies a lot on federal aid and that is a very thoroughly blue state. If blue state policies are so good then what's up with Maine? I know Maine is far left, I saw them paint the streets of Portland with fucking rainbows.
