Do conservatives hate the 8th Amendment?

Any time there's a report on horrible conditions in prisons, conservatives say those in prison deserve it. If prisoners are forced to work outside in brutal heat, conservatives cheer. When a man is sentenced to death, conservatives trip over themselves to see who can come up with the most gruesome form of execution.

If you break the law, there are legal consequences when you get caught. You know the deal, so if you end up in prison you deserve it... What's not to understand. As to pod conditions in prison it's just like any other house. If you live there like a slob your house is going to be a wreck. If you take care of it, it will be fine. Criminals often don't follow rules or norms of society. Thus they don't clean up after themselves most of the time. Half of prisoners are junkies that are tweaking out for 4 days straight, so obviously they're prison conditions aren't going to be much different than any drug infested skid row with garbage all over the place and crack shits on the wall. It's of their own doing. What's the problem? I bet you're one of those people that think the government should have to come clean your bedroom for you. As to the death penalty, it's only handed down when people murder other people, commit treason against their nation, and possibly for sick crimes of rape against prepubescent children. I don't really see the issue with ending the life of someone that is going around killing civilians. Clearly if they aren't stopped more innocent people will die. Obviously if you wanted gruesome executions you'd just hand them over to the people so that they could be beaten, tortured, and torn limb from limb but the death penalty is general something quick like hanging, firing squad, electrocution, gas chamber, chemical injection, etc.

As to making prisoners work outside, that's actually great for their mental health. They are couped up inside prison pods with 30-50 other humans. There isn't mach to do other than sleep, watch basic TV, play cards, read, do drugs, do push ups, and fight. People go stir crazy inside and get depressed. Getting out in the sunshine and fresh air for vitamin D and doing physical activity that gives you purpose is a good way to burn off anger and stay physically and mentally healthy. If more jails worked people outside there would probably be less violence and drugs.

I feel really safe. Safety in civilization comes from culture. People that live around groups of people with good culture are more safe. Those cities and neighborhoods have lower levels of crime, because the people that live together have better common culture. So in my situation I'm living a very safe life. In contrast if you live around a lot of people with bad culture, then crime rates rise significantly and you live a very unsafe life. America is a big place and different cultural groups tend to self segregate and live in different neighborhoods... If you don't feel safe in America, it's because you have chosen to live around people with bad culture. My guess is you are a Democrat living in a city run by and dominated by other Democrats, and thus crime is rampant and you are unsafe. That a choice you make based on the bad culture you subscribe to.

Many certainly do. They seem to think that people turn to heinous crime out of caprice, and need only to be intimidated to avoid it.

I've even heard one person say "Where would Christianity be if Jesus got five to ten?".

Also to add, conservatives tend to be strongly pro constitution so the fact this is an amendment already means they probably want to conserve it.

seems to me, every time someone is accused of rape or murder, conservatives come out of the woodwork advocating for torture and cruel methods of executions
