I'd only donate an organ to a family member or partner.
I'm not gonna pull a Francia Raisa (Selena Gomez organ donor) and donate to a friend or anyone else, cause look how well that worked out for her... She did it with good intent and took the risks but her friend just kept drinking, said that someone else was her only bestie and then just stopped talking to her. Now not only is something that was hers and helped her body function somewhere else, but if she ever has a family that needs a kidney she won't be able to help even if she wanted to.
But thanks for reminding me cause I do have organ donor on my license, I don't mind donating after death but I need to specify which organ/s would be okay and which aren't.
I haven't done it yet but I'd have no issue donating blood.
Thats wonderful that your so selfless and generous!!
Yes, I will donate my organs. But I don't give blood because I can't. I have a high risk of anemia from an autoimmune disease. But I am so grateful to everyone who donates blood, because I would have died if someone hadn't. From me to all those who donate blood, thank you so much. You save lives and I am eternally grateful. May you be blessed ten-fold for taking the time to do that.
My blood type is O+...
TY im happy to do it!!
Poll is confusing but I am an organ donor however I don't donate blood. I'm O+ which is most common but I don't bleed really so it takes forever, they prick me multiple times, and I get lightheaded.
At basic training I almost passed out and they had to give me oj because it took so long lol.
I'm glad you know your blood type. I had a similar experience where I didn't donate whole blood but donate a plasma that they ran through a machine and reinserted for about half an hour. It was an otherworldly experience and i could FEEL the returning blood without plasma was thinner and COLDER that my body. I will NEVER do that again!!! Sorry about yoyr experience!!
@DrPepper12 yeah I know that coldness feeling.
In the military you get a lot of blood drawn no matter what and you get an annual AIDS review where they draw blood. Plus your blood types on your issued dog tags which I still have.
Every single time I didn't bleed enough initially, one time I had a total of 6 pricks between both arms, they slapped it used tourniquets etc.
That's why I will not be attending any blood drives anytime soon.
I donate blood and the UK has an everyone donates policy that if you don’t want to donate, you must opt out of. Personally this is how it should be, a basic assumption that everyone would help another person if they die by donating their organs, it’s that or be selfish.
I don't know know that!!! What a progressive policy!! TY

I first donated blood about 5 years ago specifically just to learn my blood type because I didn't know. I am happy to donate all my organs but admittedly I've never done whatever you're supposed to do I think.
Tell DMV when you renew license or better yet a health proxy AND a copy of it to your executor of your will. TY
I don't donate blood but if i die they're welcome to take what they want and I'd happily accept myself. I've no idea what blood group I am
You REALLY should. Promise me you'll find out!!
I've donated blood before, yes...

whether or not I would refuse an organ, depends on the circumstances...
