What do you think about the combining the pronouns his and her into one word that has suggested to be hish? Do we need a unisex pronoun?

I am asking more from a language simplification perspective then any gender based pronoun identification ridiculousness. For the record, I don't care what pronoun you use but don't get upset when I don't use your preferred pronoun, old habits die hard!

FYI: Some social sciences and language academics have suggested just replacing "he/she" with the gender neutral and inanimate "it". Aside from sounding crazy I think it would lose the humanity that he and she provides that differs "it" from inanimate objects.

However, for starters I'll mention that we already had "(s) he", "he/she", "him/her", "his/hers" etc... So what's the difference, really? Just another letter jumble? :(

Perhaps society should stop messing with the pronouns and start fussing over developing actual literacy skills in our public schools, hmm?

"They" has already been used in place of "he/she"—both in everyday speech and in academic literature—for a long time. It would be easiest and most convenient to just update the old rules to reflect the actual use of non-gendered pronouns.

AI and voice to text ALWAYS stumble over "his her" when spoken.
