Except for a radical feminist and the government, so far 100% of the replies state that sperm donors with a written agreement to be nothing more than an anonymous donor should not be responsible for child support. No he shouldn't. It defeats the whole purpose of sperm donation which is to help women or infertile couples or lesbian couples who want to be parents conceive a child. Without legal protection and guaranteed anonymity no man will donate sperm in a clinic ever again and these couples won't be able to conceive unless they do it the old fashioned way which is referred to as actual Conception rather than artificial. No, child support obligation comes from the old days where a man could walk away from a girl he accidentally impregnated and leave her when she does not have any means to support herself and the child. This is not the case with sperm donation. One thing to keep in mind, the state should not bear the ‘burden’ of a unrealistic childish of a single mother by choice. Any child that is brought up in a loving home with all needed resources should not be the reason a man ‘pays by default’ because it’s (half) his DNA.
