Should a sperm donor be required to pay child support?

Say hypothetically a lesbian couple went to a sperm bank, got sperm, and got pregnant, should donor be required to pay for said child?

One would think that's easy right? Okay let's say the same lesbian couple couldn't afford the sperm bank and paid a guy for his sperm signing a contract stating that the donor is not liable for child support, ever.

In Kansas a judge ruled that the donor must pay in the second of the two scenarios. Which only shows, guys no matter how well intentioned the woman is, no matter what she signs contract wise, the courts will always side with the woman. And it proves that women who want this but choose not to go to a sperm bank cannot be trusted. I would not be surprised if they start going after sperm banks in the same way.

Yes that’s the law. Contracts like that don’t hold up in court as they’re against the law. If you’re going to donate sperm then do your research. Donating privately like that means you could end up having to pay child support, and you could file for custody. It’s the way it is. If you want to donate and not have to risk having to pay cjild support then go to a sperm bank. It’s as simple as that.

Doesn't stop it from being wrong. I guarantee if said lesbian couple weren't a lesbian couple but a hetro couple, the male in the relationship would be forced to pay and not the donor. I know this because I've seen it happen.

Helllll no, the woman is going into that situation knowing the father won't be around to raise the child. It's completely different from the two parents being in a relationship which falls apart, and so they have to divvy up responsibilities

The man is essentially donating to charity - he has already given his time and 'resources', you shouldn't legally be able to charge him anything

Hermesmann v. Seyer, friend; Kansas already set the precedent that an underage rape victim can be held liable for child support. A sperm donor wouldn't have a chance.

No he should not that is the female taking advantage of the man. Isn't the whole process of donating sperm supposed to be anonymous anyway in order to prevent this kind of thing? Men should just prevent this from happening by just not donating their sperm.

fuck nah. it should be legally binding that he's signing away relation/ownership of the sperm and therfore isn't liable for future costs of that sperm.
