My friend's kids were crazy little rebellious shits when they were young. One time a bunch of my friends went to the county fair and brought all their kids. One of the crazy kids in question was a rambunctious 3 year old. He suddenly decided he had enough of waiting around for his turn to play the game. He suddenly did a 180 and ran through a crowd of about 1000 people when his dad and mom were helping the other kids play some game. I was about 10 feet away and saw him start running away, and saw his parents weren't running after him. I broke out into a run and chased that damned kid, yelling his name. Everybody got out of my way and I caught up to him. My friend and his wife were looking around frantically. When they saw me carrying him back under one arm like a sack of potatoes, they laughed so hard but were grateful. Kids are crazy little fuckers. You can't take your eye off them for one minute. That's all it takes for them to be gone.

Haha my youngest daughter was about 3 maybe. We went to a local fair, me, her and her older sister, and some teachers from THEIR school were there dressed up. One teacher was dressed as a pirate like Jack Sparrow. And he came over to say hi. My youngested FREAKED... she just legged it across the field screaming. It was broad daylight. And very embarrassing and I had to chase her to catch her.
Another time she got scared on Halloween and went to leg it. So yeah... a leash would have been good. Tho we tend to call them harnesses not leashes lol.

Our oldest child has always been an escape artist. We could have our hand right on her in a crowd and she would slip away. So, yes, we anchored her to one or the other of us for our peace of mind and her safety. Do what you need to do to keep your child safe.
