Why are people so bothered by how someone else lives?

However someone chooses to dress or live has nothing to do with you. It's not effecting your life or health so what's the issue?

I personally don't give a damn what others got going on as long as they're not bothering me or harming me. 🤷🏽‍♀️

This will be a simplification.

It is because to some degree, they can see themselves in you. If you were a tree, they wouldn't be angry. Unless you fell on them or something... But since you're human & they're a human, many more applicable comparisons can be made about your similarities.

That being said, people often respect others that are similar to them in beliefs, thought, values, actions, behavior, etc. So if anyone differs from them/us significantly, especially in ways that challenge those things very near & dear to the core of our identities, then we'll feel it as a more direct attack since, to us, it usually invariably has implications that we believe "will" negatively effect something we value.

The trigger will be different from person to person. But ultimately it's the brains alarms going off, saying danger due to a certain level of disgust. Then it's up the the individual to act. And some people are very insufferable about it, which prompted this question.

There are some very very good people on this planet who just live their life they give you helping hand when they can or when it's presented right in front of them. They don't talk shit about anybody they just try to live a quiet peaceful life they're positive people and believe in a lot of positive things

And then you have negative people that are on a dead end road going nowhere it's like they are evil they don't like themselves they create drama in their life by talking shit about other people making problems for other people being loud and boisterous and they're always in other people's business they're trying to bring those people down these people are going to go nowhere in life they know it and they want to bring positive people down to their level it's like a test..


When it happens can you just walk away from it or do you start acting just like they do get angry say stupid stuff it's just a test on how you're going to deal with it you got to just let it go or smile and let It Go is what I like to do because you're right it's nobody's business and I would rather not have that person in my life or anybody like them in my life. So when things happen to me because there's always somebody trying to bring me down to their level all I can do is just smile and say okay whatever and walk away

Whatever the reason they do it for it's not a good reason so you can't bite you got to just walk away

LGBTQ+, people of color, those practicing their religious self expression, peaceful protestors fighting injustice, etc. It really triggers some people because their lives are so miserable they believe they can’t have purpose, happiness, self expression when they feel like they can’t have it too…

My belief: Mind your own damn business and uplift others so, you can uplift yourself with feel good vibes. Hell, maybe they’ll learn to live without caring of people’s judgement on the way too.

Validation has become our most scarce resource and so people get super aggressive when it looks like the validation they value might be on the verge of getting dismissed. This is the inevitable fallout of fast progress and it is one of my biggest criticisms of progressives that they seem to look down on the things that prior generations valued themselves for if it gets in the way. Of course those prior generations are going to respond to that condescension with defensiveness and hostility - who wants to be told they wasted their life accomplishing something that can now be done in seconds on a computer? Even if it's true the appropriate response is not condescension but humility and gratitude for paving the road thus far as it will not be long until the progressive is being judged by his successors to told that he wasted his life, too.

Every person is different for some people it may be they’re genuinely trying to help, for others it’s a control thing, others live vicariously through others.

Unless someone’s doing something disgusting, hurting others, etc. They live their lives I live mine. Now If it comes to questions on this website then people are wanting feedback. Maybe they don’t like what they’re being told.

This question is not honest and is leaving out a lot of details. Sometimes the way you live does affect other people. But you mentioned 'how someone dresses' which sounds like the main point you're getting at, and sounds like you're wanting to dress a certain way that others don't approve of. It's fine if you want to dress how you want, and it's also fine if other people don't like it either.

Some people are starved for validation and are just miserable in general. But I think there are also people who mean well and are concerned about other people's lives as a way to help them.

Like if they think the person is doing something that might hurt them in the long run.

Depends on which side of the fence you're on. A conservative would be bothered by inappropriate clothing or wrongful behavior because they are worried about the overall mental/spiritual health of those troubled people, and a conservative simply wants the BEST for everyone, and to be in good standing with God.
