- We couldn’t have two more opposite candidates. Ones a well educated, lifetime public servant- we can get into what issues that entails. Prosecutors are known to be wily to get results.
- But then the other is a convict, bankrupted “billionaire” who spews sexists and racist shit.

Their policies are waaaay different. One is for future rebuilding…the other is for future exclusion of those not worthy of being American.

Is it half of Americans just being angry at not getting ahead anymore? We need to address that.

Is half of America just racist? Full on conspiracy theories?

It can’t be Trumps prior presidency. He ignored a global pandemic for months. Had the highest crime rates of the decade.
Biden/Harris got Covid and it’s inflation under control. Had the lower crime rates than Trump

Actually, the divide in the election is far less than its' rhetorical excesses suggest. Which is not to say that there are not differences and even serious differences. However, the divide is more in tone than substance when looked at in detail.

For example, note VP Harris' adoption of former President Trump's "no tax on tips" pledge. On the opposite side, note former President Trump's recent tap dancing on the abortion issue.

These are but two examples but they illustrate the point. America is experiencing a populist phase in its political culture right now not unlike that of the late 19th century - and for remarkably similar reasons.

In the late 19th century the economy was transitioning from a predominantly agricultural to an industrial based economy. Now the USA is transitioning from an industrial to a techno-based economy.

Where once, in the 19th century, farmers and ag workers were the predominant economic and cultural force, the factory workers and manufacturers began to take on the wealth and gain political and cultural weight. Now the factory workers and manufacturers are being supplanted by the computer programmers and software manufacturers.

Populism is the response to this. Populism is not a coherent philosophy or ideology, rather it is an aggregation of resentments and envy expressed in policies of convenience and the needs of the hour. Thus the "flexibility" of the Harris and Trump agendas on a variety of issues.

What then is left behind is a rhetoric of envy, resentment and vitriol to which Harris and Trump, each in slightly different ways, express themselves. To contrast, there is no Reagan out there - a man who used humor and patriotism to calm the national mood after the tumults of the 1960s and 1970s.

Likely this will change with time. The economic and cultural transitions will play themselves out. The nation will grow weary of conflict and vitriol and a calmer politics will prevail. When, though, that will happen can only be guessed at.

In the meantime, the nation will continue with an election that is less divided than it appears but is paradoxically more divisive than the issues it debates. For all he noise, however, there is far less here than meets the eye, albeit the two parties - and here the public, perish the thought, is to blame - have produced nominees who are not the equal of their times.

Trump lost my faith which is why I no longer support him, Harris has my confidence because I’ve seen what she can do and I must say I’m impressed.

Think about it? A country where a little Jamaican/Indian American girl can rise to become a powerful prosecutor, turned attorney general through an election of her peers & constituents rises to win reelection then win a primary to be the leading Democratic Ticket for Senator of the great state of California then go on to be aggressive at the Democratic Debates of 2020 taking on Joe Biden to his face then getting selected as his Vice Presidential pick, rising above to become the FIRST Madam Vice President now will become the FIRST Madam President of The United States of America.

She has a history of being a fighter for the ideology she believes in firmly. Manufacturing Made In America to compete with China under the Chips and Science Act, working to improve our roads, bridges, airports, high speed rail, enhancing broadband internet coverage, etc. via the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, Fighting for strong borders with Border Control Policy that sadly didn’t pass due to Republican opposition, Pact Act that aids our Veterans with Benefits they’ve never received before while being made easy to obtain, Expansions For Affordable Care Act, fighting for Reproductive Freedoms of Women, etc. Really impressed with her wide portfolio.

Tim Walz her running mate successfully decreased taxes under his governance while passing 15 week paid parental leave for Amazon Warehouse employees, school faculty, hospital staff, and nursing home assistants, increased the state’s paid minimum wage, increased Child Tax Credit benefits, allowed free school breakfast & lunch programs too all while reducing the tax burden. Not to mention being praised for being tough on BLM rioters in June 2020 by Trump himself on audio recording (while on the topic, he gave Kamala Harris reelection money for attorney general position with photographic evidence along with Ivanka Trump too)

Kamala Harris and Tim Walz will make a great addition to the Great American Story which continues to be written even as we have this conversation. Americans need strong leadership, I beg you to vote Kamala Harris & Tim Walz to make this country a proud country of joy & hope. 🇺🇸❤️🤍💙

The divide is because Trump makes everything about himself. He does not care about anyone else. He has a portion of the country literally programmed into doing his bidding. He complains about the media at a rally and shocker, some cult clown jumps up and runs over and tries to start attacking the media present. The rest of us who aren't in a cult can't fathom how braindead people like that are. He's by far the most divisive candidate ever when his purpose should be to unify it. But he won't because he needs everything to be about him.

The divide started under Obama. It was about the time of Occupy Wall Street to be exact. Antifa started around that time too, BLM was years later but still under Obama.

The people within the crowd were the first to start enacting racial segregation using "privilege" as justification. Then the media started adopting these ideas and we saw a skyrocketing of the usage of the words "racism," "misogyny" and "privilege." This lead to the drones who don't question the media to think that these issues are as bad as ever and decided to act on it, making it all a self fulfilling prophesy.

Trump was an attempt for the average person who are tired of the "ism-phobe" lunatics for enacting the following from the 1943 communist party directive: "In the public mind constantly associate those who oppose us with those names which already have a bad smell. The association will after enough repetition become 'fact' in the public mind." The brainrot has seeped in too deep within our infrastructure, sadly, and it may have already been too late since the late 20th century.

According to Yuri Bezmenov, a KGB defector, the only way to cure the division is for people to witness their own country collapse for themselves as simply showing them other countries suffering under their ideas isn't enough to convince them. Once a country reaches that point, the process of returning to what it once was cannot be simply described as an uphill battle.

The reality is, we are as divided as we are because politicians think that the sociopaths online are accurate representations of what the American people want. If you get off the internet, go outside and talk to people, you'd realize it is, though not perfect, not as bad as the internet makes it out to be. Half the country is not filled to the brim with Aryan Brotherhood dimwits, nor is it filled with well-rounded human pincushions who think that applicants to schools and jobs must be discriminated by skin color.

The majority of people are normal and just want to live their lives and the sooner we believe that again, the sooner this division will stop.

Trump literally encouraged a supporter to physically attack the press.

Trump ran a multibillion dollar corporation and was host to a successful TV show. Kamala Harris worked in government all her life. She never had to make a payroll or actually produce anything of value.

In the 2020 Democratic presidential primary Harris finished 16th so I don't believe Democrats are pro Harris but rather anti Trump. Trump isn't the most likable and I'm not sure Republicans are pro Trump but rather anti career politicians. It just seems like everyone is voting for the person they dislike the least and nobody is happy about it
