When people speak in GENERALITIES, they are usually wrong, Agree or Disagree?

Many of the questions here on GaG, and statements in most peoples' lives, are generalities.

Some examples:

Why are all Men so dumb?

Why do Married Women like wearing miniskirts?

Why don't single people want to get married?

Almost always, when a person makes a general statement or question, they are wrong.

Do you agree or disagree with that?

It's better to ask why a trait is more prevalent in a group or at least why it's perceived to be. The problem is people tend to look at too big a group. It's obvious not all men are dumb but we can ask why men can reel off the names of 500 sports stars but can't remember 3 things on a shopping list or why they can strip a car engine but can't put the toilet seat down.

Why does the why matter? If it does why would it be more important than the fact of a group trait? For example, if you know that Memphis, TN is one of the most dangerous cities on the planet, and your friends want to vacation there. Does the "why" matter, or will you tell them it's dangerous to go and you shouldn't do it as a safety precaution? To me the latter seems more important than the former.

Questions asked here in a general nature usually allow for much leeway in responses.

I think that I see the intent of your question but am not quite sure as to respond in the affirmative or negative.

I'll say this, statements or declarations made as generalities usually leave much to be desired.

It is the sort of thing where if the topic is supposed to be "in general" then it should be fine. But if someone seems to be treating a generalization as absolute then it is a good idea to correct then.

I think the question is a generality that is wrong. If we couldn't generalize to some degree we wouldn't.

Men like breasts is a generalization that is true.

Men Women are always dumb might be true in some aspect and not in others.

They're clearly not. Otherwise they wouldn't be generalities. 50% plus of the time they'd have to be right for it to be a generality.

People are not necessarily right or wrong but I think doing this makes the question difficult to answer and probably in many cases irrelevant.
