None. The problem is a lot of people, especially outside of this country only see what’s out in tv. It’s designed that way for a reason. Control won’t work. People die from drugs every year from overdosing on illegal drugs. While still illegal it still happens. The same as drunk driving, murder, stealing, rape, etc. All those things are named are illegal as well as hundreds of other things, but people still do it. I own about 7 guns. No I’m not some gun nut. I just like to go out shooting, recreational. I know a lot of people who own guns who have never committed a crime. We all have our different reasons for why we own them, but a majority of us who own them don’t own them so we can hurt someone intentionally. Criminals will always have access. As much as people like to think the US is racist, gun crazy Americans, we’re not. As a minority I’ve never encountered racism. A lot of times racism is thrown out as a way to escape a crime that has been committed. I’m not denying it happens. But at the same time it’s not happening the way the rest of the world thinks it is. Yes a lot of Americans keep guns to defend theirselves should they have to. Especially against the government. I truly think that is one of the biggest things keeping the government from going full dictatorship.

no, I recieved my gun as a gift.
One can purchase an AR-15, pistol, shotgun, or other rifle from a private seller with NO background check. Background checks only apply to sales through licensed gun dealers.
With enough money and paperwork, you can legally buy a machine gun through a licensed dealer.
Also, it's quicker to buy a gun than get a driver's license.

My point was drugs are illegal, people still get them just as they will w all things that are illegal. I don’t think a majority of people who own guns think guns are more important than people’s lives. I think they have that so that if need be they can protect people’s lives. Sadly some people will use them for bad things, but that’s not a majority of the people. Most people can’t obtain machine guns legally. About the only way for someone to do that is to get an FFL. I don’t know the full laws behind it but there’s the Firearms Act of 19 something that put a limit on those types of things. Yes if you have a lot of money you can purchase one to my knowledge that is made before a certain year. Things that are illegal will always be obtainable somehow. I worked w border patrol for a year while in the military. We found a lot of stuff coming in, all illegal.

Yes, I believe it should be illegal to sell or give a weapon to someone without a background check. Yes, I know minors hunt, and they should be allowed to use their parents or grandparents' gun in their presence when hunting or practicing.
How about this law: Make it illegal to give or sell a gun to anyone who cannot pass a background check? John is not a licensed gun dealer. He meets Ben, and they talk guns. John sells Ben a gun. Turns out, Ben can't pass a background check and is arrested in possession of the gun. John then get arrested for selling Ben the gun.

We need background checks universally in all states because shootings in Chicago (big city with strict gun laws) can be traced back to shooters’ gun purchases in Indiana (state where the gun laws are less strict)….
