Prices of everything have gotten way higher in the last four years.
A lot of restaurants and businesses closed due to the ridiculous pandemic mandates that seemed to be deliberately designed for that purpose.

We ahve a local restaurant that is a real townie place. It has been open since ethe 50s. It closed becuse of covid and never reopened,

Way better. Four years ago was 6 months into covid, so 6 months of having not been at work with 8 more to go. Hopsital overrun, people dying in the thousands every day. Everyone was hoarding toilet paper and grocery stores were always running out of stuff from the hoarding and supply chain issues and being stuck at home had become extremely depressing. The extra money on top of the unemployment had stopped at this point but there wasn't much chance of getting back to work yet. Hard to imagine things being much worse than that. I'm doing so much better.

I am better off than a lot of people because I planed for it. I have had three raises in the last year because I put forth the effort to make it happen. Not all can do that with the companies they work for.

But for the most part, the world is far worse off.

@Jersey2 I've had this thought a few times. But it's like it almost doesn't matter how much money I make because the quality of life available to our parents simply isn't available to people anymore. It's a strange feeling.

Nope. not even close. I had to defer my retirement a couple of years. I was going to wait until after the election before i retired but I figured if President Trump did not get re elected we are all screwed anyway.

Financially things are worse for sure. I am actually using my saved money, where as when Trump was in office I was adding to my savings. Things cost way too much now, especially food and fuel.
