Will banning food ads cure fat kids?

On October 1st 2025 it will be illegal to advertise junk food on British TV before 9 pm. This policy was started by the last right wing government and is being continued by the current left wing one. The delay is to allow the industry time to adjust.

The government claims it will help protect children from being exposed to advertising of less healthy food and drinks, which evidence shows influences their dietary preferences from a young age.

But do you think it's going to make any difference? I don't because kids don't buy food, their parents do and bad parents are still going to feed their kids crap.
