Should fat models be banned from adverts?

I personally don't care either way because other peoples weight has never bothered me, if you are skinny as fuck great feel good about yourself. If you are fat as fuck but look nice and dress nice then, good feel good about yourself, I couldn't give a fuck. I don't buy magazines or watch ads anyways so this stuff doesn't phase me in regular life. But even if I did look at this shit why would I care since someone being fat or skinny has absolutely nothing to do with me and my own lifestyle, like it is a random mf I don't care about.. Skinny models are banned because it made woman feel bad about themselves because they can't compete with woman who look like that and put the idea in peoples heads we were supposed to look like that when clearly we are not, since most models used to be anorexic or junkies. But a fat bitch on a cover just helps woman not feel bad since you don't look like that and you wouldn't want to. Plus if you do happen to look like that it just helps you feel okay with yourself. So I don't see that as an issue. I think people who have an issue with this stuff are woman who are jealous that they have to look good to have men treat them nice while bitches go around feeling good without trying. And most men who have an issue with this have always hated woman who do not look hot for them because they will always be pigs like that. Like the only time I don't like obese people is when they are on a riding scooter in my way at the grocery store! Then it's like why the fuck are you on a scooter when you are that fat get off and walk and get the hell out of my way LOL.
Both opposites do exist. Just because we don't like looking at it doesn't mean people like that are not out there. My worry is that using obese models can be taken as a way to market that type of body. Neither is healthy and both have health issues. I would be disheartened if any girls (or boys) misconstrue these body types for ideal body types in their mind. Even though society does not approve of either, there are groups of people that do. Just because you can find some support, it doesn't mean is something you should strive for. Otherwise, I wouldn't see a problem with it. In the end people will do as they see fit. The hope is that they don't let themselves be swayed by an impressionable ad.
I wouldn't worry about that unless we start seeing news reports of any budding trends, like that.
Off the top of my head, every plus-sized person I can think of that I've met has either slimmed down or had an attitude of self-acceptance on some level. Can't think of anyone who had the aspiration to get bigger around.
Sumo wrestlers aspire to, I guess. It would be interesting to hear from experts on training for that sport.
Advertisements in the US actually enjoy freedom of speech and their content is not controlled by the government. Your country does not have that same liberty.
If skinny models cannot be used in the UK, the answer is not even more limitations imposed by the government thought police.
A) An advert is supposed to sell something
B) Fat chick doesn't sell anything
c) In a Meritocracy, merit is at least being able to walk up the stairs
I rest my case of beer on her FUPA.

FUPA = Fatter Upper Pussy Area
Can you think of even one case where you thought about paying for a product or service but decided not to because of an obese model? Even if you can, the question is about banning such ads, not about efficacy.
I can't come up with a case because I don't consume or buy anything that would even think about using a fat chick.
Every body is diverse, and representation matters. Adverts should showcase a range of body types, promoting inclusivity and acceptance. Instead of banning, companies might consider focusing on promoting overall health and positivity. Addressing complaints could involve a more balanced representation that resonates with various audiences, fostering acceptance and understanding. 🌟❤️
Seeing as there's a movement to ban a. i. altogether, can we at least get this automation turned off? Miscellaneous blurbs like this aren't worth their exacerbation of climate change.

For this general topic, I just figure they ain't doin' it for me.
If a man is a cross-dresser, he didn't choose his wardrobe for my sake. If two bisexual women become an exclusive couple, they didn't choose each other to please me. If a marketing company recruits plus-sized women, they're not recruiting them for me.
So why does the company do this? Should their goal concern me? Are they doing photoshoots just for a gallery I'd like to keep? For that specific purpose, yes, please do make 'em slim. Also have the art director contact me for further guidelines on my preferences.
More broadly, though, is this company making these ads for any purpose other than selling clothes to plus-sized women? If not, fair to say the matter needs the attention of plus-sized women only.
if they advertise clothes for bigger people, it's fine... if they are shown as a new "healthy" norm... then definitely they shouldn't be shown...
I am assuming they sell pants to fat people which is probably why they use fat models. Everyone needs clothes, whether they are skinny or fat. I had a family friend who was almost 7 feet tall and he often had to get custom made clothes cause stores did not carry his dress size. Lucky for him, he was insanely rich and could afford very expensive, custom made tuxedos.
Advertising to people who actually exist in real life isn't an issue, it's what the advert is trying to get across that matters. For example 'We sell clothes for all body types!' is very different from something like 'Obese is the new skinny! Aren't these models so hot?'
They can hire whatever models they want and they will most likely go with whatever target audience they have. People who don't like them are most likely just not part of that group. You don't need to like someone's looks but that you actually complain about it is just sad
So you are going to tell companies how and what to advertise. It is a slippery slope from there. This is like Trump preaching free speech one minute and then talking about making any negative talk about him illegal. The world is becoming one huge shit show.
Considering banning an advertisement based on the person in it is a violation of free speech I’d say no.
In addition this question is distasteful and rude. Why not just say ask if we should ban anyone who isn’t the ideal societal image of beauty?
Be careful what you say, you never know when you will become the target of your own hubris.
I had no idea advertisements couldn't use people who are too skinny. If that actually is a law, then there should be equal treatment for those who have a dangerous level of obesity, otherwise it's showing preference and discrimination based on appearance and not health.
It doesn't bother me I think the people that are bothered by it our lovers of themselves and snobs. I'm just sick of seeing dogs everywhere. It's like okay enough already get over the flipping dog cult worship obsession. Not everybody is a dog NUT 🥜
I don't think we should ban fat model, I mean if a brand is plus size only it wouldn't make sense to use thin model also I think all brands should use models of all size because if one brands only use thin model fat people wouldn't think this brand carry their size and would avoid it so it's better if they use model of all size for advertising their brands.
I don’t think there should be a ban on any body type modelling. I’m fat from having an under active thyroid and medications and I’m big built too. I’ve been asked several times to model. But I don’t look as fat as I really am, although not morbidly obese. Are there truly morbidly obese models like the one in the picture? If so, I didn’t know people that big could model.
People can represent their product however they want. When they use imagery like the one you posted it reminds me of the Violator from Spawn. So I assume the owners are Satanists. When they push imagery of a bunch of body builder swimmer body type young men with their shirts off in feminine poses, I assume the owners are child traffickers to gay pedophilles. How you advertise your product says a lot about the people that run the company.
I don't think a ban.. if they are getting such negativity then that would effect sales and rep anyways so they will have to adapt or go down.
yes. they promote an unhealthy lifestyle and think it's perfectly healthy to be overweight and others are just being "rude" to think otherwise. the whole fat acceptance movement has gone too far and we shouldn't be showing other people that this is okay.
This is where the world is really FUCKED UP! Why would you give a fuck what some company is using for models for their product. The ones that bitch I'm sure are the ones with their nose in somebody else's business all the time.
They say there's a place for everyone, all types and sizes, so there needs to be all different roll models too.
„Roll“ models indeed, they would roll down a hill, if you pushed them.
@DryGermanGuy Now, Now ! Be nice to the lady !
This is a touchy subject. While I agree intentionally being unhealthy thin and heavy shouldn’t be glorified, what if some people are that way because of a medical condition that isn’t their fault? They should be able to model.
No one sees an overweight person talking about body positivity and deliberately decide to get to their weight. While to people with restrictive eating disorders, anyone that is even the tiniest bit smaller than them can be a trigger.
Healthy weight range should be "promoted", but other ways of being deserve visibility. Being sick is not ideal, but a lot of people are sick, are still human.
I essentially make about $6,000-$9,000 every month on the web. It’s sufficient to serenely supplant my old employments pay, particularly considering I just work around 10-13 hours every week from home. I was stunned how simple it was after I attempted it duplicate underneath web…

Fat models have their niche like 10XL clothes, while Calvin Klein or Passionata shouldn't use obese models for their products since they don't even sell clothes in sizes for those models.
Fat models are for fat people fashion, there is nothing wrong with that.
Wrong is if campaigning for is okay be fat in the name of selflove.
I think we don’t let companies advertise heroine addicts shooting up needles in photos
And this should be treated exactly the same way
Food addiction is the same thing
Well fat people need clothes too. Please God don't take away the fat people's clothing. And the manufacturers need to advertise like anyone else trying to sell a product. What's the big deal?
@purplepoppy Agree completely, Miss Popppy. I see too many damned fat asses in TV commercials... EVEN ONES THAT ARE ADS FOR WEIGHT REDUCTION. Yes, it disgusts me too
A ban is unnecessary. The market will decide that. Average size people will not fraternize a company with obese models... unless the company's business model is to attract obese people.
I rather see normal looking women then the disgustingly thin, unreal women that are usually in them.
Big is beautiful & there is a lot more to love & nowadays if anyone wants to become a model I think they should & more power to them.
Most of America is overweight. It's just reality and most companies manufacturer foods to make us addicted and overweight. We have to work hard to determine what is safe to eat and most jobs are very sedentary. We do not have a walking commute society either. Having plus sized models makes sense especially for the marketing demographic. The models are beautiful and are working very hard for their pay. It doesn't make sense to showcase bone thin models for plus size clothing.
As people are all different shapes and sizes and have disabilities then models in adverts should represent all people
But someone shouldn’t be severely obese in the first place. Representing morbidly obese people is telling them that it’s okay to be that big when it’s not Healthy. I can agree with people with natural differences and variations in body types or people with disabilities but there should be a cap off
I don’t like the act of banning them but I will say that plus sized modeling as gotten out of hand. I think that we should have models that reflect real women who may be curvier, chubbier, etc. but we shouldn’t be promoting being morbidly obese
Nothing should be banned. The market should decide.
Heyyyy... this ''woman'' (and alike) is good for everyone on the planet:
beauty needs an opposing contrast to be fully appreciated.
This is a hard question to answer. It really made me thing deeply. And I couldn't come up with a good answer.
No I don’t think so fat, skinny, short, tall, People are people and whatever types of clothes people wear somebody’s got a model that shit.
If it helps sell product n I owned the company I would exploit anything I could like a good little capitalist
They shouldn't get banned... They work so hard to achieve that level of physical perfection. It isn't like they just wake up and gorge themselves on waffles and pancakes every morning with no discipline whatsoever.
Banned? No if you use them as models or not do not change if they are fat or not. I dont think anyone who is skinny go - "Yeah , i wanna be that fat-ass, then i can become a model"
I don't like my babes to be overweight but it's a business. If the ads sell they sell.
Seems like that would be a step too far. If only people had the common sense to just not look at things they don't like.
Fat people also need to know how the clothes look on a fat body. Thing is, many of the fat positivity movement advocate for being fat or for it to be equally healthy, which is really bad.
No because no matter what people come in different sizes and will look for clothes to wear.
I mean if they’re selling pants for fat people it makes sense to use fat models.
polarizing question it seems but the comments. I guess we are all so perfect!
Because fat people don’t buy anything? Freedom lovers sure don’t support much freedom, even for private companies
Holy crap !!! You mean some boy's actually clubbing that girl?(No, because I'm 5'81/2",195 !!!)
Hahahahaha, yeah get em on a treadmill, and start whipping their asses.
Yes. They promote obesity as desirable and healthy.
It depends on what kind of commercial they are doing
IS there actually a rule/ law against using skinny people in adverts?
It makes sense to use fat models to advertise weight loss products or services. It all comes back to using the right tools for the right job.
They should leave them for fat fashion adverts only.
Chubby women are just fine.. it's the tattoos I'm not too crazy about in models
no but just casted for fat commercials or ads is better
maybe in certain kinds of commercials
Love size inclusive brands and models.
Not if there trying to become a super model
Yes coz obesity shouldn't be normalised
I guess I'm not a woke person then 🤗
No fat models are needed
