It's never far from the surface here in NYC. I've got FDNY & PDNY in my family as do a lot of us here. it's a scab that gets picked once a year and doesn't really heal. Many are not over the anger part of the grieving process.

2 months after that, I found out my ex-fiance had been fucking someone else behind my back for the previous 2 years and that doesn't feel like it was 23 years ago, either.

To me that wasn't the worst thing that happened that year. So anytime someone else brings up the tragedy of 2001, 9/11 comes in second. But no, it feels like just yesterday.
