So…still no gun safety laws when former criminal tried assassinating Trump again with fully auto AK?

Full auto conversions are not difficult to pull off, it's more difficult to have an accurate and reliable semi-auto or burst fire weapon than a selector switch to fire full-auto or be safe.
Unless you're firing.22 or a mounted/sandbagged machine gun, full auto is most useful for keeping people under cover while semi-auto fire picks them off. Especially an AK, semi-auto their max effective range is 350 yards, full auto you're not aiming much past 30 yards after 2 rounds leave the barrel.
SKS is more accurate, with a little less recoil, and they cook off in full auto from the firing pin getting stuck, which I've had happen a few times. They climb like crazy. Anyway, current regulations are in a beautiful goldilocks balance.
Any more and it would be worth the extra time and effort to put into the tools or connections to just make your own weapons or buy them made with no serials. Currently they're trackable, and it takes some effort, and the money from sales and ammo goes into funding enforcement.
Now I want to go pick up an AK or SKS with a magazine to take pig hunting...
This dude is all over place. Trump voter in ‘16, seemed like he was donating to less mainstream presidential candidates like Andrew Yang and Tulsi Gabbard, was begging for a Haley/Ramaswammy ticket this year on Twitter, also donated to Biden once the race was thought to be set.
Seems like a disillusioned former Trump supporter, but his angle is wanting some non-establishment type? Not sure all the aforementioned people fit that description, but that seems to be his deal, one of these “we need to flip the whole system on its head!” types.
Also seems to be very pro-Ukraine, which tracks, because even my Republican dad is out on Trump, strictly because he thinks he’d bungle the Ukraine/Russia situation and let Putin ultimately win. Him telling me he was thinking of voting for Biden a few months ago still one of the greatest shocks of my life, lmao.
One thing’s for sure: he’s crazy as fuck, lmao.
I saw a video of him interacting with some YouTuber by the name of JiDion, who I’m unfamiliar with. Looked like he was on a college campus or something, passing out flyers trying to recruit people to fight for Ukraine or something. And the JiDion guy was telling him “he doesn’t do paper”, maybe some environmental thing, or he just didn’t want the flyer, but this guy who seems to be Routh got very exasperated at that point, and clearly wasn’t playing with a full deck.
"Also seems to be very pro-Ukraine, which tracks, because even my Republican dad is out on Trump, strictly because he thinks he’d bungle the Ukraine/Russia situation and let Putin ultimately win."
This is absolutely the craziest thing I've heard today. Can you explain how your Republican dad thinks that Trump allowed Putin to "win"? When do you think Russia invaded Ukraine? Do you know under which president Putin has not seized territory under this century?
@Ladsin2 You’re asking me to speak in detail for my father, which I can’t really do.
What I know is that he isn’t a huge fan of Biden (but to be fair, that opinion was formed via right wing media who have done nothing but trash every action, inaction, and coincidence that’s occurred in the world as being the worst thing that’s ever happened and a direct result of the incompetence of Joe Biden, which is just an insanely bad way to be getting news. Joe Biden has been average at worst, so I immediately laugh off any “Biden is the worst president of all time” claims because they’re completely unserious and come from completely unserious people). But despite what he thinks about Biden, and he prefers Trump’s economic and social policy (also largely influenced by right wing disinformation and deliberately dishonest media takes), above all else, my dad believes America is the sole protector of the free world, and should first and foremost be the biggest swinging military dick in the locker room of Earth. Some country starts acting up, my dad wants Patton and Eisenhower to rise from the dead and dominate militarily. So to him, Putin is Hitler 2.0.
One of the worst takes going right now is “this never would have happened if Trump were here!” I just don’t buy that one bit, and that’s just a ridiculous basis for an argument. And if Putin thinks a dicey Afghanistan withdrawal is indicative of any significant American weakness, then he’s a historically huge idiot as a military strategist. It’s simpleton thinking to say “Trump was in office, no invasion; Biden elected, invasion happens…. definitely all Biden’s fault.” Holy fuck. Holy FUCK🤦♂️😂 We gotta get away from this elementary school level reasoning.
@Ladsin2 Anyway…I think for my dad, his big thing is always saying “Trump has the vocabulary of a third grader”, so he just has an incredibly low opinion of his intelligence, and additionally his impulse control.
And more than anything, he thinks the regime transition needs to be smooth, so this isn’t the time to shake politics up in America.
He’s most alarmed by the “I’d have this settled in 24 hours” talk from Trump. Like the idea that Trump is just going to call both guys and end it overnight is preposterous on its face. And if he were to do that, it’s pretty obvious Trump doesn’t give shit what happens to Ukraine, he’s on his “America First” thing, and I’m guessing it’s just gonna be like “Hey Zelensky, we aren’t giving you any more support, so roll the fuck over or get rolled over.” And then who knows where Putin goes from there. Probably to hang with Trump and tickle each other’s nuts lmfao
@Ladsin2 “Correlation does not imply causation”🤷♂️
Yes it does, because cause and effect exist. Correlation doesn't necessitate causation, but it strongly implies the latter hence the axiom. If I throw a ball in the house and a vase breaks. Is it a strong likelihood that the former caused the latter? The phrase is "Correlation doesn't equal causation".
@Ladsin2 fair enough, thanks for the correction.
Bottom line: my dad thinks Trump is an absolute bozo with foreign policy, he thinks he just talks out of his ass with regard to what he’ll do (and doesn’t think he can do what he claims he will, resulting in further trouble), generally disagrees with any ideas of U. S. isolationism and damaging or abandoning standing alliances, and thinks the top priority is not disrupting anything with a regime change right now.
As much as I wish Trump would just drop out of the race, I dont want anyone to live in fear.
We have enough kids with ptsd from school shootings. We have enough vets from wars we shouldn't even sent them to. As far as I'm concerned any casualty to guns is too many. I wish Republicans would see the same regardless of who is at risk, but they seem so obsessed with "2nd ammendment" they don't care whether it's their president or even their own child. I thought they were pro life...
Quick with the fundraising as usual, fascinating huh? I somehow wouldn't be surprised if we found out this one, like the first, is actually a Republican.
Liberal AK buyers... such a big market. Lol
Yep, now that they're digging into him, no party affiliation but voted for Trump in 2016 and has posted about supporting Ramaswamy and Haley for President this time. So a Republican as we expected.
Oh really? I read he voted Dem. But not that it matters. Crazy will go crazy
It said he was unaffiliated and so could pick which party's primary he wanted to vote in and chose the Democrat one but that he previously voted Trump and posted about Vivek and Haley for President this cycle.
Gotcha. I dont blame repubs for anything but not even discussing gun safety policies

So Florida has no gun control laws? Are you sure about that?
@Ladsin2 WHAT! A person who wanted to commit murder had disobeyed the gun laws? Well, then, we need to pass more laws.
What specific changes do you think would make a difference in the frequency of mass shootings?
Sounds like he's a democrat law violator. What law would prevent him from getting such a device, I do not know.
yea, a few more of these... and if they start targeting people that don't have security details, just might get gun control. It only takes some specific event or risk to forever change the laws.
It doesn't take many crazies to bring down an empire...
All ya have to do is shut off the printing press, and this whole thing goes down the tubes fast. Rome took long time to fall... and then it was burned in a few days.
Democrats are truly disgusting pieces of shit
they'll conduct as many shootings as possible just in hopes of pro-gun becoming anti-gun
they present themselves as the solution to the problem they created
similar to pro-abortion men threatening to rape pro-life women in hopes of getting those women to become pro-abortion too. absolutely sickening
yeah your ANTIFA loonies are pissed online that Trump survived again today
gun ownership doesn't take away the violent aspect ANTIFA possesses over the public
Odd, I know you have an active imagination and need those lies to justify your prejudices and desire for repression of your political opponents, but you embarrass yourself by spewing those silly caricatures.
And Antifa is the violent paramilitary arm of the Democratic Party, protected by the federal government when it should instead be prosecuted.
No gun safety laws? Are you joking, or just ignorant? It was illegal for this guy to posses guns, and yet he did IN SPITE of the gun safety laws.
Look, I get it, the laws you want would make guns unavailable, which is never going to happen for criminals in the US, especially as long as you liberal morons support open borders. Criminals in the US will always have access to guns because they don't care about the laws (e. g., in Ryan Wesley Routh's case). If you idiots get your way, law abiding citizens will no longer be able to posses guns, but criminals will always have them. Are you too dumb to see the problem with that, or just too dishonest to acknowledge it?
He was already a felony prohibited possessor. What do you want us to do? Make it doubly illegal to possess a firearm? Should we take the gun from my neighbor? Would that have prevented this?
Well sounds more like a current criminal that shouldn’t have been out. And I know damn well anything auto is very difficult to obtain legally and impossible if you’ve got a record
So exactly what additional gun restriction would’ve stopped that? Because criminals are so well known for their strict adherence to the law…
Umm yeah it’s very hard
Well bump stocks aren’t really full auto, somewhat similar effect but not really. And aren’t they pretty tightly regulated most states anyway?
Former criminal? Do you mean this guy was a convicted felon? Oops, as everyone knows convicted felons are not allowed to legally possess firearms.
Odd, it’s already illegal for a convict to possess firearms, including buying them. What additional regulation is going to prevent illegal firearms possession? How do you conclude banning convicts and people under restraining orders and the mentally ill from possessing firearms is “little regulation?
The guys who are doing this were hired by Kamala. of course they're not going to get checked and be allowed to do things. normally other people wouldn't
it's all part of karla's playing because she is afraid of trump
You can pass all of the gun safety laws and restrictions that you want but the criminals will always get the guns that the want. You will only manage to take them away from the honest and law abiding people.

Why? There no gun problem in USA! Ask any MAGA they'll tell you!
Good point, its more of a "criminals don’t follow the law" problem than a gun problem. As @Avicenna put it "Odd, it’s already illegal for a convict to possess firearms, including buying them. What additional regulation is going to prevent illegal firearms possession? How do you conclude banning convicts and people under restraining orders and the mentally ill from possessing firearms is “little regulation?"
@Sasahara: There is no gun show loophole. And requiring background checks is not going to prevent illegal firearm ownership given that there are flourishing illegal markets for illegal firearms.
Odd doesn’t understand cause and effect and can’t think for himself, so he falls back on leftist boilerplate.
who said it was a full auto AR-47? He evidently bought it on the black market since the serial number had been obliterated. All the gun laws in the world would not have stopped this.
There already ARE gun safety law, but they are not enforced due to politics. Look to your DA's and judges, not your lawmakers.
But sure, let's not spend 10 minutes thinking about how a guy from North Carolina who was living in Hawaii was able to find his way to the exact golf course in Florida where Trump decided to play unannounced.
unfortunately, they didn't pretend not to see the traitor.
We have plenty of gun safety laws. The problem is, they are not enforced!
that asshole yelled Trump 2020Four!!! and celebrated with a round. that's not normal?
He was already barred from having a firearm due to him being a convicted felon. What more do you want?
It doesn't matter, he will get the guns anyway, even if he has to make them via 3d printing or purely from scratch. Shinzo Abe was shot and killed from a homemade shotgun in a country where gun ownership is extremely limited. If someone wants you dead, you think they give a shit what laws they are violating to do it? They are already committing a crime to kill you.
It's not a full auto, and he didn't get any shots off.
There are a lot of gun laws here now in California. And everyone with a brain ignores them - fuck the puppet legislators.
A rounder picture
You shit leftards are trying to shift the blame for this from your apocalyptic rhetoric about Trump to guns.
And there won't be because the NRA, America's true rulers, wishes nearly EVERY Yankee yahoo to be armed.
And how do you know that the weapon was, "FULL AUTO?"
You are pathetic you know.
