When, if ever, is taking a human life justified?

Whenever you can justify it and get away with it. It isn't nice, or proper to say that. You're not asking about when it's right though. There are layers to society, and in the layer where you sell drugs, you can get shot for fronting a couple hundred dollars, that's not much money to get murdered over.

It's justified though, as the dealer would get robbed and possibly murdered if they didn't take care of the problem. They just have to get away with it. You aren't justified in many states for simply killing a squatter, though it could cause hundreds of thousands of dollars in damages which destroy your livelihood. It's truly interesting.

So yeah, if you can justify it to yourself, and get away with it, justifying being that it gives some benefit, then it's good to go. We aren't all that unique, and will die someday with kids, parents, and/or a spouse missing us anyway. If you can square taking that time from someone, then you can. If you can't, then don't do it.

- Self Defense (the person isn’t capable to run away and must stand their ground even if it puts the life of the other in danger)

- In A War Zone (obviously if someone has a weapon pointed at your body on a battlefield fighting your country)

- It Is Life Or Death (an attacker / assailant comes at you with a knife / weapon and you have to save yourself)

- It is your job / protect family (to be a body guard protecting those you are serving from harms way or there is someone coming to harm your family and you have to defend them or at least die trying)

There a video doing the rounds of a woman called Marianne Bachmeier from thd 70s, a man abducted her 7 year old daughter, tied her up and raped her before strangling her, admitted it all and previouslydjne jail for rapinv tw other girls. In the video Marianne Bachmeier pulls a gun out in the court room and shoots the man dead.

I believe this was justified homicide and personally I would gladly accept the punishment if it was a child of mine of 6 years that she got in prison or even if if was much worse like the death penalty.

Defense of self or others.

If someone's attacking u or someone else & the only way (or the only apparent/realistic way) to stop them is to kill them, then that's justified.

U don't know what they're gonna do so it doesn't matter if they have a weapon, or what they say they will or won't do. If you or another person is not able to get away or neutralize the attacker without using potentially lethal options then you're justified to use those options as effectively as you can.

Whenever the human in question is about to take Yours. By the way, taking Your freedom does count, since if You don't have freedom, the life You're living is not really Yours anymore. However, there's an easy way to clear any misunderstandings. You simply have to protest against having Your freedom taken. Whoever shows up to threaten You with death if You do not end Your protest is free game.

If someone kills a loved one with no justifiable reason, I believe it's fine to take that person's life. I'd say the same goes for if someone rapes a loved one. Or stealing a lifetime's worth of work (someone worked on developing a cure or creating an invention that would change society and someone steals that and sells it as their own)

Many reasons. Most of them is due to them provoking it by their own unjust actions. But some aren't. You could end up in a scenario of someone has to die for whatever reason, you know their good but if you don't do it more deaths could or will occur.

It's very situational. Hopefully we shall never be in such position but if you are, you have to make the choice that will be better in the long term even if it's bad.

Certainly if required in defense of your life or the life of another. If you want some philosophical justification, check out the writings of Immanuel Kant. He has a lot of writings regarding just war theory and when it is ethical to take a life.

There's a place for lawful execution. I recently read about a prisoner serving consecutive life terms who was somehow put in a cell with a convicted pedophile. He killed him on the second night because the guy tried to explain why fucking a six year old wasn't really a crime. Then on the way to his trial for that killing he was transported with another abuser, and killed him as well.

Frankly I feel he deserves a medal for saving the justice system money keeping these individuals alive...
