Americans have a terrible problem with personal character, values, and priorities, first and foremost. It is UNCONSCIONABLE to put one’s own hopes of individual prosperity in front of universal decency, yet that seems to be where most people’s heads are at. And that’s nothing short of sickening to me. We are not a good people, broadly speaking.

Also, our people are incredible stupid and gullible. Half of the country thinks America is a dystopian hellscape simply because Donald Trump and the political machine around him tell them it is. Almost none of the horror story claims by MAGA are true or accurate or honestly characterized. They rely COMPLETELY on people believing blatant disinformation. I have NEVER ONCE walked out my door and gone out for a day, and encountered literally ANY of the horrors FoxNews tells me are going on. And I’m not hanging out in Candyland, I go into these big, scary urban environments they tell me are war zones…. they AREN’T, and it’s laughable to believe otherwise.

Most real problems are the same as they’ve ever been. There’s no uptick due to Biden, there was no downtick due to Trump. Yet Trump & Co will just SHAMELESSLY lie about the state of America and the impacts of any and all issues. The fact that anyone can hear Trump speak and be either impressed or believe the obvious self-serving lies he’s telling…. holy fuck. I don’t think much shakes my faith in human intelligence more than that.

Watching people be dumb as fuck and having them turn around and try to tell you that YOU’RE the one who’s dumb as fuck, by the tens of millions of people, most of whom are recognizably stupid on sight, is an ironic life twist I never expected. I never feel good calling people dumb in arguments, it feels juvenile and unproductive, but nine years in, I just don’t know what else to call this anymore. These people just wholeheartedly believe in an imagined reality that doesn’t truly exist, and they’re walking around like we’re in the fight of our lives. Truly unbelievable.
