It can be hard to know what is unique for you and what is not unique but, I think there are a few things, one is that everybody (esp older people) always seem to worry about me and want to protect me or want the best for me, and are rooting for me. Also something that has happened so many times that I know it is not coincidence is that I will say that somebody is so nice and always has a smile and a kind word and my friend will say “no he’s not, he’s a jerk” or something like that.
I seem to get a lot of invitations to events and although I don’t go to clubs like this much the past few years I used to get invited into clubs including sometimes for free if they ha cover charges. Also when I go to bars (which again is less often now than it used to be) at least half the time I get something free whether it’s from the staff or another customer, I don’t do anything for it except smile and say thank you.
On the other hand I have experienced some kind of bad sexual stuff that caused me a lot of emotional problems when I was 19 and it still bothers me sometimes though I have been in a great and stable relationship for years now so I am getting over it and I am rarely exposed to situations where that stuff is likely anymore. And at some point I realized that when I get to know a girl well, if I consider her sexy it seems like she has been mistreated somehow meaning sexual assault or at least groping and crude comments. I doubt anybody can really study this in a good way but I think prob. nearly all sexy women have been sexually assaulted at some point so, which is better? I don't know but you mostly can’t choose or control this anyway I guess.
I am sorry if anything I said sounds weird or bothers anybody I am just trying to answer the question honestly since I am anonymous here so why not be honest. JMO!
I noticed a bit when I lost 50+ kg and started fitting the beauty standards more.
People are kinder - they are more keen to listen to me and respect what I've to say, they're less likely to be judgmental and are open in conversation.
People - here mostly men, are more likely to open the doors for me, let me infront of them in lines, they're more likely to come to my "rescues" and their approach to me is less nasty.
There was a promotion for Corporal at the prison I worked at. The promotion was between one of my academy classmates (female) and another officer who had been there a year before us (male).
My classmate was a lazy piece of crap. She showed up late consistently (even in the academy which got our class disciplined multiple times). She was always the slowest one to respond to a code red. She got wrote up many times and suspended for not showing up to mandatory overtime. The ONLY reason she did not get fired was because she could calm offenders down that would normally take 5 of us big guys to handle.
The other officer had a year on us and an almost perfect record. Always the FIRST officer to assist in a code red. He was on CERT team, which is basically the SWAT of corrections.
She was the one chosen to promote to corporal. A month into her being corporal, we had increased violence in the prison because she was allowing brand new officers to get posts they were not ready for. I had a moment where she ordered me to work with death row inmates and placed an officer on her 2nd day out of the academy in the kitchen. BIG mistake since the kitchen is one of the riskiest posts in a prison. New officer knew this and was afraid so I swapped posts with her. This pissed off my classmate/incompetent corporal. However, despite a huge number of complaints, she was allowed to keep her position.
This is wrong but also funny at the same time.
My lead is an older man, (close to retirement age)
Anyways, we have had several women come into our shop. From chemists, to engineers, to programmers.
Lots of them young, some of them ugly and even fewer were actually very attractive.
Anyways, when speaking to the ones that aren’t as attractive he will be super professional and talk exclusively about the business topic at hand.
However, whenever a young, pretty girl comes in. He literally tells her his whole life story.
And everyone in the shop including me look at each other and laugh quietly while nodding our heads. (We know why he’s doing it)
Point being, he made SURE to prioritize any requests of the prettier women. Legit would put their requests at the top of the priority list, even if we have parts that need to go on a satellite ASAP. Nope doesn’t matter. Pretty girl = immediate assistance 😂

There was a girl in my office who was incompetent to the point of causing problems, and she would bury them so that they were discovered months or even years later. She was a blue-eyed blonde, had been a high school cheerleader. The owner of the practice fantasized about having sex with her even though she was about 25 years younger than him. She kept her job for years despite her constant screw ups.
It goes both ways although the dynamic might be slightly different.
Over the years my weight has gone up and down. There was a time when I was overweight my dress style was very loose. When I started to lose fat and gain muscle and also dress in nicer clothes I noticed a huge difference in how people treated me, especially women. I would often get free stuff when I went to restaurants and coffee shops and I people did seem to treat me better in general. So that was a plus.
On the negative side:
At first it was a huge ego boost but it gets old after a while. I would get attention from people I did not want attention from (ie. gay men and butt ugly women) and also some of my coworkers got a little weird around me with one younger female in particular that used to stare at me all the time. A few years ago I started wearing looser clothing and also a jacket at work that is one size too big for me and I have seen how the attention has dissipated... and this is fine for me as for the most part I want to be left alone to my thoughts when I am not at work. Most people are not very bright and I find it frustrating to really relate to anyone. so I read books , watch the occasional movie and - Heaven help me - I still have my dirty secret - I come to G@G ( this last one I only do with the all doors locked and the shades pulled down.)
I mean yeah. To an extent "pretty privilege" is a thing. In general people do tend to treat pretty people "better."
However... pretty people also have certain disadvantages, believe it or not.
Like for example, never knowing if someone actually likes you or is just trying to get into your pants. Sexual harrassment from creepy guys. Jealousy from other people making them automatically hate you and treating you with contempt. Etc.
Not to imply pretty people have it worse than "ugly" people or anything, but just showing that there's a whole 'nother side to it as well.
Being in sales and marketing my entire adult life I can attest that it's real. It's more prevalent with women, but cuts both ways.
Most of the big-business that I secured in my previous career had a female gatekeeper. Being good looking and having a friendly personality opened many doors that my competitors couldn't budge. On one occasion an HR manager for a large military contractor propositioned me to be her occasional "fuck-buddy" complete with her cell# and home address. I politely declined but thanked her for the offer because I didn't want to jeopardize my career. :)
in general, by men and by women too... I would get much more better attention and service at most places when I was my ex-girlfriends rather than being on myself, lmao...
does that count? I think it does... lol
but their personality could be magnet-like, not just a matter of looks... the kind of smile, and eyes that just get to you... the moment you see them
but it wasn't always like that, lol... other times it was the complete opposite, and grudgy attitude would be instant, lol
in middle school, I studied in a Catholic school so we had a lot of rules... and I wasn't very obedient lol tho I was never sanctioned, on the contrary, the supervisor helped me and arranged with the director so that I was spared punishment, this supervisor used to always comment on my FB saying "oh my kids is growing up" "she became prettier" things like that.
In high school, I stopped messing up around, but I brought my phone everywhere and use I whenever I want to. But we couldn't bring phone at school. When someone catch me and tell the supervisor, he just pretended to take it from me and give it back to me like 5 min later.
I do believe in the halo effect but I'm not around attractive people enough to watch if they get better treatments or not. I will assume the benefits aren't immediately noticeable, to either the attractive person or someone near them. Although, when someone like that is around, I automatically feel luckier in some sort of way. And also a bit intimidated to the point of not talking to them as easily as I would someone else. It's easy to forget people are still human, and I just assume they're never lonely and already have a harem of friends at their disposal. The pedestal in my mind for them used to be way higher but it's not gone yet. However, I don't think someone should be getting to break rules just for being cute, but there's no way to enforce that when I'm not the leader of the world. (Not that I'd ever want to be that) But, I guess if they're nice and try their best, it's whatever.
well growing up it was seeing all the girls fall for 'that one guy' and i'd be secretly jealous like 'wow what does he got that gets him all that attention' and yeah i think looks play a role there.
i grew out of that now but i did see that as a 'privilege' to receive that much attention from women. now its more 'eh good for him' kind of thing. don't give it much thought anymore.
ok when i say 'all' i don't mean every girl of course, but just seemed like a lot of women in school, or work or wherever liked him.
I got what you were saying lol
@Still-alive for what it's worth, it's possible "that one guy/gal" wasn't as privileged as we could think. Because objective attraction can very much distorts all relations.
I’ve experienced the opposite, I have ugly privilege. I’ve never been harassed by a random man, I’ve never been followed home, I’ve never felt like I couldn’t trust that my partner only wanted me for my looks, I’ve never felt endangered for my life just for being a woman out in public.
I'm not sure if that applies purely to women or not... the term "pretty privilege" but I'm pretty sure if I looked like Quasimodo I wouldn't get away with anywhere near as much that I say at work and HR would have me on speed dial.
Nope, pretty privilege is just attractive no matter the gender
I work with some very pretty girls but really haven't noticed "pretty privilege", other than getting extra attention. I supervise some of them and feel I treat them equally. I do notice a lot of "pretty jealousy"! I always hear other women saying how, so and so "is such a ditz! She's just a pretty face".
A lot of people at the office think I got to second chair or try certain cases in courts because I’m pretty. I like to think I got those things because I’m a good lawyer, but I think being pretty may be a factor too. Juries tend to side with people they find attractive when it’s a close case.
It happens.
I've witnessed it on more than a few occasions in my places of employment before my retirement.
As those situations never adversely affected myself, I don't care that they occurred.
Details aren't really necessary in describing them.
As much as it helps, if you don't appreciate it and abuse it, it will hurt you in the long run. So I don't know how it's any different to anyone who uses any other traits. A know it all goes as far as any premadona.
Nepotism is a thing but that's throwing money at the problem so there's that.
I work with all men... They used to treat me like a princess. They would carry heavy things & basically do everything for me. The drawbacks to this... if you turn down their advances, you'll be ignored, left out of everything and rumors will be spread. Also, wives hate you.
At the (supposed) 5 star spa at which I worked- - - - - - the male therapists, and particularly me since I was the oldest- got the s - - t all the time. Miss Pretty Sucky-uppy Face got to play the game. Now she is elsewhere, too. What goes around? Whatever.
There was a lawyer begging to take my case- male, white, older- he said I'd be a shoe-in for a suit win. He didn't know the parent company for which I worked. I just left and became a sole proprietor, and answer only to myself. (Makes for interesting company meetings). ;- )
I think besides getting more attention from men, pretty can also be a bad thing at work. Jealous women will make your life hell and try to get you to quit. That’s why whenever I work I try to downgrade my looks, so there will be less jealousy. Wearing unmatching and ugly clothes, having oily bangs etc. People say you shouldn’t change yourself for others, but in a survival environment you have to.
Well i have seen more of pretty not-so privilaged things. I did a language course once. And there was a pretty girl in our class. all girls won't talk to her and hate on her. while some guys made fun of her. She kept to herself and after a while she dropped out of the course. She was paying for her course like everyone else but she ended up the one not benefitting from the course at all. We all had good time in the course but her. Just because she was pretty. I will never forget this girl
Female privileges allow a woman to make an only fans account and make millions while men have to have talents and skills. Women do struggle with being made fun of for expressing their sexuality which is unfair because a guy sleeping around or doing porn isn't seen as bad as a woman doing those things.
So women tend to have pretty privilege or female privilege. You can see most women on this site who have influencer badges are mostly women. It's same thing with Instagram and becoming famous women tend to have an advantage over men. Again it's all not all sun shine and rainbows they do suffer too, but a different type of experience from men.
I've told this story before, but a company I worked for had a technical entrance exam that you had to pass to be considered. Once, when an attractive, slim woman failed it, he let her take the test home and study it then come back and retake the same test. As far as I know, no one else was treated that way. The manager who did this was around 70 y/o.
My older sister and I worked as waitresses and tending bar. She was terrible at both, always got orders wrong and shortchanged. She always made ten times the tips I made, why? Because she has massive tits and I'm flat chested.
Every sports, scholarship, community service and academic awards nite I've ever attended as a teacher. Of course there's merit BUT it usually looks like a model's casting call.
Free drinks from men, better customer service from men, more attention from men and more options for casual sex from men (and women).
I can show up late and leave early and also avoid going to work on several days without any consequences. I feel guilty but it’s ok
What @EzraIsShy76028 said, double edged sword all along
I know it has to exist or there would not be so much jealousy between girls. In my world however, I don’t see it.
At my age pretty is not a privilege, that is just to much responsibility… lol
Besides as pretty as you are you would have to be the most privileged and I just don’t see you acting that way….
All of the girls that I work with are beautiful 💃
I chosen my secretary nit because if her stunning beauty, but because I had the best relationship with her.
However, I had the great relationship with her only because she was attractive, and I was attracted by her.
She's hard working and intelligent, and of course this matters. However, we worked proficiently because we had a great relationship, which came from me pursuing her beauty.
Just the way some people turn into yes men or women 😂
Mostly just extra attention from guys and or drama from girls.
Its the clearest with women who will tolerate just about any bullshit from a bullshit guy
*beautiful guy
