I am not either-or regarding abortion.

*I hold that abortion-at-will for convenience should be disallowed insofar as the unborn infant was conceived by legal, willing (at the time) partners. However...

*I hold that (as a concession) a standard must be set in a non-political way to determine when an unborn infant acquired a sufficient degree of human functionality that abortion should be denied. Some states are using a heartbeat standard. Brainwaves might also be considered.

*I hold that the primary purpose of reproduction is to perpetuate our species in a healthy, viable condition. There are times that an infant is affected by genetic errors that would likely contaminate our species. Spina Bifida is one of these.

*I hold that certain identifiable non-genetic malformations that would contribute to an infant having a short, painful, non functional life and which would present an excessive burden to individuals, families and our culture in general. Thalidomide babies out of the 60's are examples.

*I hold that modern medicine is or will be able to detect the basic functionality threshold, compelling genetic defects and physical malformations of an unborn infant such as to provide for termination of pregnancy in advance of the threshold of functionality such that pregnancy termination in advance of human functionality and due to genetic defects and malformations is indicated.

In our past, babies made the conventional way, regardless of the reason (including rape or incest) likely went to term and became functioning members of the tribe or village. However, babies born malformed for whatever reason were "carried to the river" or abandoned. In some places, they still are.

But modern society is presumably more humane and can apply its resources to manage the issue of abortion in a civilized manner. So the framework if "I holds" above is my best effort to get a handle on abortion. I know there are "buts", "Whatabouts" and name calling that I have no interest in. Say what you wish but this is not an invitation to dialog. It is one man's view on how to resolve the issue and you are just as entitled to yours.

At the same time if I was walking in front of an abortioning clinic and there was a woman trying to get in and there were people bullying her making it so she could not get in I would stand in front of her and I would make sure she got in because that's her right as a human being that's her right

When we were all born we were all given a gift and that gives his choice we get to choose who we want to be in life by the things that we say and do it's a choice it's her choice not mine not anybody else's it's her choice it's something that she has to do deal with nobody else.

Im neither pro or anti because it should neither be promoted nor denied but rather accepted as part of human reproduction. This is something that's being going on for thousands of years, even the bible has a recipe and instructions. Lets not forget either that infanticide and abandonment have also been a part of our history and still go on today in less developed countries. Safe abortion is one of the main reason it's not widespread in the west.

Humans are not an endangered species and we shouldn't be striving to save everyone or forcing kids on to those unable to raise them. We've also got too many kids in care we can't find homes for.

big pharma and food corporations need to be investigated and sued for tampering with our diets and medicine. unhealthy parents lead to unhealthy kids. some consumption choices require personal responsibility e. g. don't smoke or drink alcohol while you're pregnant

The only way I would agree w abortion is if the mother was raped or it meant she might lose her life. Maybe even if the doctors knew that the child may not live a “normal” life for whatever reason they detected early on. I’m stuck on the fence on that one. Other than that going out, partying, having unprotected sex isn’t a good excuse. I believe men should have a say in it as well. Otherwise there’s a lot of other things people shouldn’t have a say in. It’s amazing how a lot of women will say it’s my choice, but then they make the choice to keep the baby now all of a sudden the father has to be responsible for child support. Of a man doesn’t have a say in it than I think he should be able to opt out of financial obligations.

Abortion is an extremely personal topic, and each person has their own opinion.

I personally believe that a woman should have the right to control what happens with her body, and that abortion is an acceptable choice, with certain restrictions, in particular, abortion should not be performed after fetal viability outside the womb, which is around 30 weeks gestation, unless the life of the mother is at risk.

I believe women should have the right to choose for themselves. I don't think abortion should be used as a method of birth control, but I do believe as a male, I have very little say in the matter. I find it disheartening that our governments try to intervene so much. A woman's body should be theirs, autonomously.
