Why did people care about Lady Diana so much?

I was oly 7 when she died and I never even heard of the royal family at that time in my life so it didn't mean anything to me at all but everybody acted like this was the most tragic thing that happened since world war 2. And it was all over the world not just in the U. K. Is it just because she was in the tabloids a lot and people had a parasocial relationship with her like they do today with streamers or celebrities?

I don't wanna hate on her or say she doesn't matter but I'd just like to hear your explanations for why her life or death was important.

She was more like an ordinary person but happened to marry into the Royal family.

I saw a video of her life yesterday, so it's kinda ironic that you would be asking a question about her today.

She knew from the same that Prince Charles was always in touch with Camilla Bowels for many years. But the royal family thought that she wasn't royal material. But that never stopped them from sneaking around behind Diana's back and having their affair.

From the start Diana told interviewer's that there were three people in the relationship.

I think that yes, she was royalty, but she didn't hide what those people were doing to her. That's what made her different. She wasn't phoney. She had problems that regular people have in their lives. She didn't have to say a word about what was happening in her life. People could relate to her as a real person with real feelings and problems.

I believe that people felt sorry for her because she was trapped and became a victim like so many regular people are.

Plus she was only 19 when she married that ugly looking man.

Before they were married they did an open interview with someone and the interviewer asked if they were in love? She answered " Of course we are" but he answered by looking at Diana and saying "Whatever love is". That's when she wanted to call off the wedding two days before they were to be married.
But her sister's convinced her to go on and marry him because it was too late to cancel the wedding.

She also took up causes like she was doing things to get land mines that blew up on people walking through a jungle (I think it was a jungle) and these land mines were blowing off the peoples legs. So she had a big heart for humanity.

It is suspicious that the royal family had caused the car accident that took her life. But no one knows for sure.

All I see is a narcissistic spoilt woman child who barely spent any time with her kids and cheated on her husband while playing the victim for the media. People forget she used to call the media up and tell them where she would be and at what time and got a cut of the money. She married King Charles not for love or because she was forced to but for his status as thd Prince of Wales and the fame and money that would bring. Now that details about the horrid legacy of Alfyad have come out there is that as well. She loved being a celebrity more than anything.

it's very simple, if you enjoy something you care to follow up for that something

it is not different from you caring that much about baseball or k-pop music... which are also "parasocial interactions"

you are the audience, and you're entertained by someone and something you're not actually a part of but you do feel a connection with it

She was totally manufactured by the British people who seem to need a royal family to fawn over. Even after Prince Charles kicked he to the curb they stil made a big deal about her. Even Elton John adapted his Marilyn Monroe song for her.
