1 yWomen have real legit fears and reality, that men don't have so much. They are a bug stairing in the face of a windshield, even if it's not much of a change in reality. You'd think food and shelter are top... but consider the consequence of their behavior or misfortune leading to an 18 to 25 year sentence they aren't ready for?
They are afraid of being an adult. That is a parenting issue...
Can you handle the fear of committing to a woman all your priority and $, to find out she is totally nuts and rakes you over the coals for a decade or two?

@Adel50 The right to an abortion comes from the human right of bodily autonomy. If you have bodily autonomy, which is the right to your own body, then you by extension have the right to performing an abortion on your own body. The right to an abortion is not a separate right, its just one case of where bodily autonomy applies.
Asker1 y@syntosi bodily autonomy applies only IF no other living being is affected by your actions. Tattoos? Sure, you have freedom of bodily autonomy. Drug use? Sure, you have freedom of bodily autonomy. Pregnancy? Not the same. It is not solely YOU who is being affected. Abortion should NOT be encouraged. it should be a last resort. Not something you have a “right” to simply because the baby inconveniences you. You see this is what being an adult looks like

@asker
The problem with what you just said is that fetuses are not considered to be human beings. End of story pretty much. All the arguments of having heart beats, brain activity, the potential to grow into a human etc.. has all been considered decades ago and refuted completely. This is a 100% settled debate which no one has brought anything new worth reconsidering for as long as I have been alive.
So yeah, by our current understanding of biology that makes the fetus an extension of the womans body and therefore falls under her bodily autonomy which gives her the right to an abortion without having to declare any reason or justification for it.
Asker1 y@syntosi you libs really are psychopaths
- 1 y
@Adel50 There are many things inside your body that by your definition would not be considered your body. Humans are both a multicellular life form which means we are a colony of individual cells and we also have an entire biosphere living inside of us which is important for our continuing survival.
If for example I were to destroy all the mitochondria inside your cells which is an entirely separate species with its own DNA then you would die shortly after.
Again, we have had this conversation long ago and everything you believe and are going to respond to me has already been said previously as well as completely refuted. You are wrong, plain and simple. - 1 y
@Adel50 Honestly I am not sure what you specifically believe in but every one of them has another analogue in your own body which means that nothing would make the fetus unique in this. For example, about half your body does not have a human DNA, gut bacteria for example lives completely independently of you but is partially responsible for digesting your food. We have neurons AKA brain matter in more places than just the head such as in the stomach which means a fetuses brain activity is not unique either not to mention within the timeframe where we allow abortions this brain activity is meaningless signals without a conscious mind behind it. If we are talking about the potential for life then sperm or unfertilized eggs also qualify.
I could go on but again, this debate has already been settled. There is nothing more you could possibly add.
Asker1 y@syntosi you’re right , it is over. The verdict is in. Most Americans agree people like you are nut jobs. that’s why the left lost on every single metric

That is not the flex you think it is. Trumps voted did not really improve since 2020 when he lost against Biden. As such Biden would easily have won with his previews votes. Saying that Trump won because people lost faith in democracy and did not bother to vote is not really giving you the mandate you think it does.
Asker1 yBiden never won. he was installed like an appliance
- 1 y
@Adel50 "But a foetus isn't your body, it just happens to be inside your body." and extrapolating from that you are trying to make the argument that the fetus is separate from the mother due to some form of unique trait.
You are not the first person who has tried to make this type of argument so I have a whole list of specific unique traits that people like you have tried to use to define the fetus as unique from the mother. Of course, maybe you just arbitrarily decided the fetus is separate for no other reason than you said so, at which point I arbitrarily refute you regardless.
If you want to be more specific, go ahead and give me your best shot for why the fetus is a unique and separate entity from the mother. - 1 y

@midnightmoon05 Oh, I have always intended to move to another country. I mean I would be a fool not to consider the fact that I am a privileged person with the ability to choose exactly where in the world I want to live. America just is not that great, what with all the issues with quality control and pollution not to mention the lack of services and just that people are not happy.
Just looking at the happiness index:
worldpopulationreview.com/.../happiest-countries-in-the-world
If moving to a different country basically automatically makes me more happy then quite frankly that is all the reasons I would need to move. - 1 y
You are still complaining… leave.
- 1 y
@Adel50 No, you have plenty of things that is considered part of your body that is not physically connected but as a starting off point it becomes hard to argue against it.
Also before we continue this, let me just bring you up to speed with the abortion debate since you appear to be a few decades behind. Even though this conversation regarding if the fetus is part of the mothers body or not is undoubtedly very exciting and informative, I regret to inform you that even if you do what no one has been able to do and prove that the fetus in fact IS part of the womans body that will still not be an argument against abortion.
You see, bodily autonomy is.. how should I put this.. an "absolute right". You have the right to your bodily integrity even if it causes someone else to die. Hypothetically speaking, if you considered the fetus as a separate human person then that would still mean that the woman has the right to remove it from her body and let them die. Yes, that means that there actually is a moral argument for abortion up until the moment of birth.
If you want to know more about this then I will just direct you towards the famous violinist thought experiment. - 1 y
@midnightmoon05 Look who is complaining? Leave this conversation. You have nothing more to contribute.

@Adel50 ... Are you serious? You do know about evolution right? You do know that evolution produces more useless bodily process than useful ones right? Your body is completely chock-full of useless parts doing useless things because millions of years ago your ancestors might have used it for something.. maybe..
Humans are not perfectly or efficient machines. We were not specifically designed. - 1 y
@Adel50 Humans have a tail during their fetal development as well as the bodily functions to properly grow a tail under certain circumstances. I doubt you have much use for your tailbone at the current moment.
Wisdom teeth are also vestigial (that is the word for things that are useless or almost useless) and used to be important when our ancestors had bigger jaws and ate more vegetation.
Humans also have a huge amount of worthless muscles that are either too weak to do anything or attached in such a way that they dont do anything anymore.
And since you are a guy, your nipples. They might work for women but you are a guy aren't you? Why do you have nipples?
There are also behavioral traits that we keep that does not serve any purpose anymore. Goosebumps for example or hickups. - 1 y
@Syntosi The tailbone supports your weight and anchor other types of tissue throughout your body. For example, the Gluteus maximus, the Levator ani, and the muscles in your anus. Your tailbone also supports tendons and ligaments that connect to other structures around it (Cleveland Clinic).
Vestigial structures are features of an organism that are considered to have lost much or all of their original function through evolution (Osmosis). This means that at some point, it was required for normal body processes. If wisdom teeth erupt into their proper positions, they can provide support in the back of your mouth and preserve bone in your jaw (Cleveland Clinic).
Males have nipples because of the way that embryos develop in the initial weeks after gestation (Verywell Health). This is a remnant of embryonic development, since differentiation of the sexes doesn't occur until the sixth or seventh week of pregnancy. This "might" be an anomaly, but nonetheless, remains an organ.
I don't care about behavioural traits. I'm concerned with body parts. - 1 y
@Adel50 The tailbone supports the weight in so-much as its just there. Its not its purpose and we would be completely fine, if not better without it.
And yes, vestigial structures are things we inherit from previous ancestors but evolution also produces truly useless things which may in the future become useful such as mutations.
Point is that you are not our species. You have no use for your ancestors having more teeth or a tail. On your body they are traits that are completely useless and yet your body spends time and resources to develop them. Likewise your nipples dont have a function as a man yet your body spends precious time and resources to fully develop all the components for functional breasts.
These are body parts that on you does not serve a function. - 1 y
@Adel50 Your tailbone has never had a function. Your ancestors tails would have but they are not your body. And no, your vestigial organs has nothing to do with normal bodily functions or processes. You would not notice them if they were gone and your body would probably perform better without all that junk uselessly attached to it.
And no, I do not consider them physically being there and thus having to be attached to muscles or tissues as having a purpose. - 1 y
@Adel50 I dont understand why you keep attributing your ancestors usage of a vestigial organ as if you yourself are somehow involved. You are not your ancestors. Your body has never had use for vestigial organs.
Also mutations are far more common than you think and they also keep happening throughout your life, such as developing cancer. - 1 y
@Syntosi Because my ancestors were human, not just me. It's like saying why should I have legs if I have a spinal condition that renders me paralyzed. It doesn't stop other people from having legs. It's the same reasoning. My ancestors were human, and they had the need for such vestigial organs.
Developing cancer isn't a mutation that involves developing an unneeded body part. Mutations like growing an extra finger or toe, for example, are rare. Cancer isn't a relevant example. - 1 y
@Adel50 Most of your ancestors are not humans, they were precursors to humans and that is where your vestigial organs would have come from. And again, we are talking about what is part of YOUR normal body processes. Otherwise we might just consider the fetus as a vital part of your normal body process that connects you to your ancestors and which they "had the need for such vestigial organs" to produce you.
And I used cancer as a very obvious example of something that is both useless and which randomly develops later in life over time rather than be part of you from being a fetus. - 1 y
@Adel50 That is not what they meant but sure, lets just think a moment on what DNA is.
DNA is instructions for the operations of the cell. What would happen if DNA became damaged? The cell would lose its ability to operate. What happens when a cell loses its ability to operate? It dies. Do cancer cells die? No, they live and replicate. Is the DNA in cancer cells still functional? Yes, they are still able to live and to replicate.
The DNA in cancer cells are not damaged. What NIH meant is that the original information of the DNA was "damaged" until the information became something else. In other words, a mutation. - 1 y
@Syntosi Yes I know. That's why I said "certain genes in DNA responsible for the growth and development of cells". The genes are the part of the DNA that contains the information you're talking about. And something being damaged doesn't necessarily inhibit the initial function. For example, the tire in your car enables it to move. If the tire is damaged (like having a flat tire), the tire will still enable the car to move, not just properly. So damaged doesn't mean the end of function, it just means it wouldn't function properly. Same with cancer cells.
- 1 y
@Adel50 No that is not what a cancer cell is. There is nothing physically wrong with a cancer cell. It is a software failure, not a hardware failure. If we take your car example then the car itself is perfectly fine with all 4 wheels in normal condition, but the software in the car has been corrupted and changed how the car works. Biologically speaking the cancer cells are perfectly healthy, they just dont perform a useful task in the body anymore and in fact will accidentally kill it.
- 1 y
@Syntosi I'm not an expert in cancer biology, nor do I pretend I am. But I do know that my statements are consistent with the NIH, whereas you don't even know what you're talking about. Like you said, "the original information of the DNA was 'damaged' until the information became something else. In other words, a mutation.", which is exactly what I have said. But then you contradict yourself by saying "There is nothing physically wrong with a cancer cell."
The information is stored in the DNA through genes, which are chemical expression. The information is not some abstract concept that we would think about in our minds. It has a physical basis, and you just don't know what you're saying. - 1 y
@Adel50 The original information of the DNA was CHANGED. If I go onto your PC and change the name of all your desktop shortcuts to "dipshit" does not mean I have "damaged" your PC. There is nothing physically wrong with your PC, the physical hardrive containing 1's and 0's still contain 1's and 0's, no matter how many icons that reads "dipshit" to your face. Your CPU still hums along, your fans still spin, the graphics card still runs, the keyboard still functions etc.. But some aspect of the computer has been changed.
Likewise, cancer cells are still entirely functional but their programming is changed. More specifically, in regards to their division and such.
A cancer cell needs to be healthy and have a fully functional set of DNA to be a cancer cell. If the DNA is "damaged" or "broken" then that would prevent it from being read or acted upon. If the DNA is not being read then the cell can't do things like cell divisions which is what a fucking cancer cell does.
Like honestly. Why do you and people like you insist on taking positions on things that you have not only no understanding of, but literally negative understanding of? You would be closer to the truth if you knew nothing about how any of this works than what you currently are. - 1 y
@Adel50 Because it does not mean what you think it means and continuing to use simplified language is actively harming your ability to understand what is going on.
Remember, we were talking about normal bodily functions and mutations. Your argument is that cancer is not considered a normal part of someones body because it is "damaged" or whatever, when that is not true.
1 yBanning abortion does more harm than good in the fallout of doctors being unable to perform necessary terminations in cases of miscarriages or ectopic pregnancies for fear of being jailed and/or losing their job. @cupcakethedestroyer I'm a Conservative, but I think the overthrow of Roe Vs Wade was a colossal political error by the court and the Republicans. Roe vs Wade stood for nearly 50 years and overturning it was just plain stupid.
Now it send the abortion issue back to the individual states to make their own stupid decisions., but overall I support abortion rights to a point. If a baby can survive outside the womb, it should not be terminated. THAT is murder.
