I walked around all the time, rode my bike, etc.

1 yThis is pure BULLSHIT !!! So now the police want parents to put tracking devices on their kids when they go out per the arresting officer's statement recorded. The person who ordered the arrest or the officer who thought this was good policing should be fired and arrested for abuse of power. My grandkids walk father to get to a bus stop to get to school every school day.

1 yMy siblings and I used to walk to and from school all the time and much of the time we were home along from 10 onwards because my mother worked all day.. Yeah it's crazy, a kid can't even walk half a mile anymore.. This is gonna create kids too dependent on their parents or too anxious about the world..

Most definitely.. This new style of helicopter parenting over fear is going to create frustrated parents a d scaredy-cat kids.

1 yOne. This is an isolated incident that should never have happened and it doesn’t make your childhood or anyone’s childhood illegal. You can and will ride your bike into town and have fun, that is a normal thing.
Two. I don’t know the independent laws of this district / state in question though I’m sure this isn’t a regular occurrence anywhere else. I don’t know why you generalize or try to make it seem that everything in modern life is out to get you since it isn’t except for isolated occurrences.
Three. This could spark a bigger debate on over policing and that we need to cut down on policing in certain areas and enhance them in others. This could also spark a healthy debate into changing police protocol and changing police training to not be so hostile & soulless. These are real issues facing America as a whole, police brutality is more dangerous than this and that this small instance should allow us to see a broader picture not getting ‘triggered’.

* Georgia doesn’t have laws on record for child supervision however the Georgia Division of Child Safety (if I’m typing this right, can’t save this as a draft to look back at notes) claims that children until 12 shouldn’t be left alone however 8-12 can within periods of time less than 2 hours though I don’t believe police should’ve been involved and most certainly not make an arrest period.
27.2K opinions shared on Society & Politics topic. I walked to school every day. It was about a mile. There were older kids in the neighborhood that looked out for the younger kids. Where I live now, everyone takes the bus, even kids that lived across the street from the school. They are afraid that will get run over crossing the street.
50 Reply1.7K opinions shared on Society & Politics topic. No. This is overreaching by the cops. And I say that as brother of a ten year old boy who died when he went out alone and was hit by a car.
My parents were not guilty of reckless endangerment or manslaughter or anything criminal in my brother's death. Just that they were guilty of being human.
I'd love20 ReplyWhat a disaster. Those cops are trying to worm their way out with that plea offer. She should fight the hell out of this. I used to ride my trail 50 all over town at 10. Bicycles too.
At 7 I walked home from school all the time. 2nd grade. It was a mile easy. And 5th and 6th grade was 2 miles easy.31 Reply1.5K opinions shared on Society & Politics topic. It all depends on the rules in that area/state. My area the kid has to be 10 to stay home alone for a few hours. 8 to walk around the neighborhood. The last place I lived the kids had to be way older like 13 to do these things.
21 ReplyAs a lad, I'd walk almost all over town, even places my father forbade me to visit.

I'm glad you have no power, as an individual, in determining reliability. When you sport such opinions, repeatedly, against established collectives, I'm really really glad no one gives you any power.
- 1 y
Yeah look how much your precious establishment had power when they got so repudiated by the American public CNN is firing people by the droves.
And your bullshit doesn't deter me WHATSOEVER. I hold influence in society, I influence my friends, they influence their friends, etc. Same with my family.
But sure, you suck that corpo dick boot licker. - 1 y
I talked about established collectives as a whole concept, that includes many collective based institutions. I'm unsure about how it is connected to genitals and boots and tongues though.
- 1 y
Since you really want to use sexual analogies now, then I can translate my previous idea in this new register you wish for:
What I told you is that your organ cannot penetrate those collectives I refer to, your organ has no power there. Whatever you do, in this context, your organ does not matter.
Mine was too. My parents would literally be in prison for my childhood if it was today.
Funny thing is that we wonder why young adults act like perpetual children. Maybe coddling people until they're 30 isn't the right move.30 Reply
1 yI used to walk alone to school. I even went alone walking to the grocery store back in the 90's. I guess now a. days everything is bad. Now a days it's normal for mommy to clean up for their 20 year olds grown kids.
10 ReplyApparently. In my country kids walk themselves to school. Kids take public transportation by themselves. Kids are sent to the store to get stuff.

1 yI went miles from home at young age.
this is unreal.
and to think they just removd the mother... um... whered the kid then go... foster home?
makes no sense.
22 Reply- 1 y
A large share of the kids in the foster home system are just waiting to be reunited with their parents. you got to wonder how many were separated because of nonsense like this.
The Governor of Georgia and the local athoirties need to fix this or be thrown out of office. Regular people raising kids can't afford to fight this. - 1 y
@monorprise I hadn't heard that.
6K opinions shared on Society & Politics topic. That's completely insane. I walked a nearly mile to kindergarten and back by myself.
20 Reply8.2K opinions shared on Society & Politics topic. Not only have the cops gone insane, someone had the audacity to call them. We have become so selfish as people that we don't even respect the lives of our own neighbors anymore to the point where we are calling the cops on them for something so petty.

It is legal to handcuff a person like an unruly offender.
The corrupt police in my country are better than that00 Reply2.5K opinions shared on Society & Politics topic. This kind of paranoid nonsense just makes me glad I grew up during the 1960's. During the summer's we would go wherever we wanted to, without any adult escort

And let's not forget they cannot own guns in a meaningful way and a German even having a baseball bat next to their bed would be tried more harshly because they would be ready for an attack. The German courts don't like that.
Both the British and the Germans have the TV Mafia.
And the Germans won't let you deny the Holocaust while Americans will let the idiotic neo-nazis march with police protection because we believe in the open marketplace of ideas.
You guys are so far behind us you can't even see how far ahead we are.
1 yThis is utter insanity. Fuck those cops.
