I think that is very true. At least it's true of the loyal Democrat kind of liberals.

I have what I call 1960s-70s liberal values. I'm friends with quite a few similar people who are not guided by political partisanship or consensus.
Those kind of people are wise to the idiocy of mainstream media and, instead, have resources for researching information on issues. They are fountains of information and are open minded.

But Liberals who are loyal Democrats think they know everything there is to know because they think they are really smart because they have degrees and had successful careers. Plus, the NYT, CNN, MSNBC, NPR an late night comedy hosts all share the same points of view, so the consensus must be true.

My wife and I were members of a liberal, nondenominational from 2002 to 2021. At first it was populated by wonderful people. But white, latte-liberal Democrats from the San Francisco Bay area started retiring here. Their influence on the leadership of the congregational leadership was unfortunate. The place gradually went full "woke".

Then they lost their minds during the 2016 primary and went full TDS.

They supported war against N. Korea, Russia and Iran. They refused to condemn Israel.

When they embraced the covid mandates in 2020 and supported mandatory vaccinations, my wife and I had enough.

Those hysterical morons with masters and doctorate degrees who had retired from corporate careers to opulent homes in the country were the most clueless people I had ever met.

They called my wife and I "anti-vaxers" just because we didn't volunteer to take experimental shots. That's like calling someone "anti-food" for avoiding GMOs and agricultural poisons.

They decided that my wife and I were right-wingers. And compared to them, we were. But it wasn't our values that had changed. "Liberalism" had morphed into something monstrous and antithetical to my liberal values.

What I found was, I could get along more easily with most conservatives. They have more of a live-let-live attitude. It's possible to disagree with them on some issues and remain friends.
They actually have black friends and treat them like normal people instead of treating them like fragile victims, groveling before them and apologizing to them.

First of all, a lot of Americans likes to throw around the word "liberals". The left wing is not liberal. Liberals are actually more located towards the center of Americas political spectrum. Something like this, while oversimplified is generally applicable:

Secondly, you can have civil disagreements with liberals without an issue. Those who believe that liberals instantly jumps to accusing them of being racist, sexist etc.. are in reality probably guilty of being said things and they just dont like being called out for it.
