BREAKING: US Representatives AOC introduces bill to ban Congress from trading and owning stocks.

My response: BAN Congressmen from trading & owning stocks! Ban it! Ban it! Ban it!

I do want to make clear, this bill 99.9% won’t pass since Republicans AND Democrats have made millions off of this scheme and wouldn’t want to ruin a good thing…. IF The Bill reached The Senate, Senators would pass it since it doesn’t stop them from trading also President Biden would sign it if it was resolved in time leading to the bill’s passage though 99.9% won’t pass the Congress, tough luck and I’m pissed.

Fuck yes I would. Politics has a direct effect on stocks and bonds, it means blocking that would encourage politicians to make decisions that focused less on lining their pockets by finding the right stocks to sell and more on the voices of their constituents.

Ooop that won't make the red side of the aisle happy. Next they need to stop doctors from taking fat Christmas bonus checks from insurance companies in exchange for screwing over patients.

That bill sounds good on the surface. The problem being. Just like Polosi said. We never discussed insider deals. But I might have left the paperwork lying on the kitchen table.
So how far on the family tree and friends would be banned from inside information?

I understand the intent but pension funds often involve securities ownership. Maybe they should be limited to mutual funds that reduce insider trading or influence for legislation.

The right also started the Korean war and started many other smaller wars as well. Profit is a fundamental part of right-wing ideology and it isn't going to go away based on silly statements about draining the swamp and the like which simply political marketing.

It's very important to the the defense industry in the United States that the United States has involvement continuously in at least one or more wars for as long as possible. This can be a direct involvement, although that tends to arouse negative public sentiment? Or it can be a proxy of war like Ukraine, where the US is responsible for starting the war and US defense contractors are able to sell weaponry to combatants such as they do to Israel and such as they do to Ukraine and such as they do to Israel. The US did not start the war in Israel, but it did start the war in Ukraine.

So of course it is in the interests of the US defense contractors to keep these wars going and to the extent that they are able to exert political influence in that regard they do so primarily by donating money do the right wing which also includes Republican legislators.

Additionally, there is also another method by which the right wing causes tax money to be essentially donated to US defense contractors. Right-Wing legislators vote to donate tax money to countries such as Israel and the Israelis in a tacit agreement. Go to US defense contractors where they use that money to purchase large amounts of weaponry and defense contractors. Then profit greatly from those purchases. What is not said but is implied is that the efforts of legislators to donate tax money to the country involved in this case? Israel are contingent upon Israel's purchase of webinary because the money is actually intended initially for US defense contractors. The legislature cannot give money directly to private companies but can give money to a country that essentially promises to be customers of the Private company. Additionally in doing this, US legislators ensure that their re-election efforts will be well financed by the right wing.

"$80 billion worth of military equipment" Bullshit. I suppose you think they should have taken away all the training, roads, and buildings?

What it is with the right wing and lying about the magnitude of things? ↗

"THE FACTS: Those numbers are significantly inflated, according to reports from the Special Inspector General for Afghanistan Reconstruction, or SIGAR, which oversees American taxpayer money spent on the conflict.

... that funding included troop pay, training, operations and infrastructure along with equipment and transportation over two decades, according to SIGAR reports and Dan Grazier, a defense policy analyst at the Project on Government Oversight. "
