Are we saying that dangerous criminals like Jordan Peely should be allowed to freely assault women on the subway until he kills someone.

Should heroes like Daniel Penny be prosecuted for stepping up and protecting people.

A woman was just set on fire in the subway and no one did anything to help her because they are all afraid of being the next Daniel Penny.

That had nothing to do with anything that happened on the train and it had nothing to do with anything Penny knew about or witnessed.

@msc545 it had everything. These criminals are allowed to threaten and assault people. He was restrained so couldn't assault anyone that day because a hero stepped up.

More than 10 if you ar black since the cops tend to target black people. It was telling that even though he had been arrested many times he apparently didn't serve any prison or jail time. Lots of people are falsely arrested and never convicted, especially black and brown people. Hell - I am white, and I was falsely arrested once, and never charged.

Convictions tell the story you are looking for. Arrests absolutely do not.

Here is a quote from the article you posted: "A New York City police spokesperson told Newsweek that Neely's record has 42 prior arrests, dating between 2013 and 2021. They include four for alleged assault, while others involved accusations of transit fraud and criminal trespass. "

Note the words "alleged" and Accusations" in that quote, and the absence of the words "charged" and convicted".

      What does that tell you?

@msc545 alledged because soft on crime DA wouldn't prosecute. As it turns out criminals will not stop committing crimes if there are no consequences. By your own logic Daniel Penny is innocent.

No, DA's can only prosecute crimes if there is evidence. There was apparently no evidence Neely did anything or he would have been charged and prosecuted. he was not.. Conversely, we all SAW Jordan Penny choking and killing Neely on video. That was excellent evidence of a crime.

By any reasonable logic, Penny was and is still guilty as hell.

@msc545 i'm very close to psychosis. i deal with it all of the time and can spot it in others without much dialogue. but take a vet with some possible ptsd. getting triggered into a situation like this. that's not that's cold-blooded murder

i haven't read anything about penny's state of mind. they say the homeless guy was high and threatening and that's it.

I've not seen a video of Penny before that of him choking Neely, but when he was doing that he seemed quite calm, That may have been deceptive. If he has PTSD that would not mean that he had any psychotic symptoms at all - just a lot of depression and anxiety and possible rage outbursts. I think we would have seen that when he got involved with Neely and it is not there. Instead, there is sort of an eerie calm which bothers me a bit as it is sort of inappropriate to the situation. Not sure what to make of all this except he did murder Neely and Neely did not threaten him and did not touch anyone else.

@msc545 shut up! i didn't say i was psychotic. my mother is though and i take care of her.

i haven't looked into the case that much. i think i watched a video and that was it. why wouldn't there be interviews with the people on the train. that would be very important to the truth. maybe there is and i don't know? but there is a clear difference between a) a guy choking/murdering an innocent man for no reason and b) protecting people from a threat

@msc545 instead of paying for more security patrols on and near trains, i think the proper response would be to put up more cameras on and near trains. they are a very good deterrent

Cameras don't stop anyone assaulting you and aren't always admissible in court as many victims have found out. Laws don't work unless they are enforced, the biggest deterrent is jail. That's why shoplifting is becoming such a problem in new York and other liberal cities, because it's ignored by soft on crime DA and police. It's left to citizens to defend themselves against violent thugs like Jordan Neely.
Neely's record has 42 prior arrests, dating between 2013 and 2021. They include four for alleged assault, while others involved accusations of transit fraud and criminal trespass. At the time of his death, Neely had one active warrant for an alleged assault in connection with a 2021 incident. So it was the fault of the soft on crime democrat mayor and DA for letting him out.

Good suggestion. We have a lot of assaults (actual ones) on the Metrolink system here in LA to the extent that I will not use it. The sheriff's deputies that patrol it are too few and far between, and frankly too lazy. I am not sure that cameras would deter anyone since it is far too easy and too acceptable to wear a mask...
