People are frankly fed up with the power shut offs. In my town the PG&E office got vandalized and a PG&E employee got shot at while driving down the highway.

There was supposed to be one where I live too and it never happened. Maybe they finally got the memo. Especially since the majority of fires are started by arsonists.

They start by human mistakes mostly. Sparks from vehicles, carelessly tossed cigarettes, and power companies equipment.

That would mean that any emergency or fire suppression systems would have to have backup power. Just for this reason.
Just like filling up the reservoirs.

Good points. They are supposed to do selective "black outs" which would leave only the essential areas with power. Neighborhoods are far safer with it off in that extreme situation
