How strict are they in your state, when it comes to speeding?

In my state, it's pretty much the posted limit. If it's posted at 65 mph, they will pull you over if you're going 67, 68. It was the same when I lived in Texas (pretty much zero tolerance). I have relatives that live in WI and they really don't enforce anything under ten over the posted speed limit, especially if you're flowing with traffic. What type of tolerance does your state have?

Ha Ha I moved to WI two years ago and yes, they are lax when it comes to speeding. Not only with tolerance but with fines. I got pulled over once for going 15 over and the cop gave me a warning. However, what they do have, are a lot of speed traps! When you get into residential and business areas, every half mile the speed limit will drastically change. That's the only time I've gotten a ticket. You don't even realize there would be a change in speed limit but suddenly it goes from 45 to 35, because there's TWO houses in that 100 yard stretch lol. Then it goes back to 45... On the open highway, it's pretty much drive at your own risk but in town driving, they can be somewhat strict.

Exactly! That's when I got my ticket. I was coming off an off ramp into a town and didn't notice it went from 55 to 35 in a quarter mile. I noticed the 45 mph speed limit but didn't notice the 35 mph speed limit a few feet later. Like you said, it is kind of a speed trap!

You can go 10 over here, freeway or surface streets and they don't pull you over.

That would be so awesome if it was like that where I live! 🤣 Not that I have a lead foot but it's a pain constantly watching your speed. I've been pulled over for going three over! Keep in mind, I don't get fined but it's still a pain.

cops looking primary for drunk driving. Our road conditions on average is above hazardous. so the average driver is 5 miles per hour slower then the speed limit. Understandably.

Good driving can easily go above and cops respect good driving. Even 15 mph over because you want to be out of dumbfuckers reach. Like I said drunk driving is what's spooks them.

Freeways and highways you can go ten km/h over. In towns it depends on the individual situation. I have been stopped multiple times for speed, but never got a ticket.

The only time I got a ticket was in town. It was a 35 mph speed limit and he clocked me at 51 lol the thing is, the speed limits change so quick! Just like another person said. It was 45, then it went down to 35 but I never really noticed and the cop happened to be behind me 🤦 He asked if I knew why I was pulled over and I said because I was speeding. He was cool about it, because he did knock it down to only ten over, which saved me money.

The last time I was stopped in town, the cops even blocked the road with their car. It was two in the morning on a weekday and the streets were literally empty, so I was fast. He gave me a lecture about reckless driving (cop cars have no speed measuring devices here) and let me go. I think in reality they suspected me of a DUI, because our office was in the red light district. 🙄😬

My state does allow ten over and will usually only ticket you when your going 15 or more over, otherwise it's a warning. They're strict about seatbelts though. I got pulled over once because I took my seatbelt of about a hundred feet before I pulled into a parking lot! What's worse, is I was naked, so I got another ticket on top of it! I did fight it and got the naked part dropped.

There’s usually a 5mph grace you can count on. Though I was pulled over for going 2mph over on st Patrick’s day once but I think that was just cops hoping to pass out DUIs

Iowa. Texas was terrible! The locals said it's because it's a major "drug run" area lol so the cops look for any reason to pull you over. I was pulled over 3 times in six months for going two miles over. Never got a ticket but still, it's such a a pain.

In WI I guess they really don't care about speeding. We were going between 80-85 down (I think it's I-94) passing cops lol in Iowa, I've been pulled over going 2 or 3 over.

Most speed limits are just suggestions. I drive 70 to 80 mph on the highway and cars pass me like I am standing still. If you do get pulled over the fine in extreme and you insurance gets doubled.
