DEI hiring is pretty much vital for modern day organizations. There are many reasons for this ranging from the fact that having a wider variety in cultures and viewpoints increases problem solving capabilities beyond what simple qualifications might suggest.

That said, the biggest example of a failure in DEI is probably the police force. Not saying it would solve everything forever but one of the biggest issues with the police in USA is lack of trust and the public belief that the police is separate group from them. This is obviously a major issue for a profession whos main duty involves working with the public to resolve issues.

One of the biggest benefits of DEI is the natural ability to bridge the gap between public and the organization. Having people find connections in heritage, culture or in other areas is a very good and important first step in building trust and cooperation.

That’s a grey area with that, you shouldn’t hire someone because of skin color, it should be because of their qualifications otherwise you will be hiring people that aren’t qualified just because you need more diversity but will hurt the company if they don’t know anything about the industry or don’t work

No, I worked for the state and I was told that if I found a qualified minority I had to hire him/her. I refused and I got in trouble for it.

No. It only leads to a bunch of unqualified people in positions they have no business being in. You'd think they'd learn from South Africa, but apparently not. It should be merrit based
