Why is it when a man is abusing a woman in public, people step in; however, when women abuse men in public, people just stand by?

The very obvious patriarchal double standard: according to the patriarchy, women are weak and in need of defending. Simultaneously a man should be strong enough to take care of himself. The realities of abuse show this deep-rooted belief given to people who live in this society and how male victims are often ignored because in the conversation around abuse (as it primarily focuses on female victims) says that it’s the victim’s responsibility to get out, protect themselves, and press charges rather than condemning the abuser (often a man) because patriarchal society doesn’t want men to be responsible for their bad actions. As a result, when women are the abusers, the male victims are pretty much ignored and shamed for not getting out just like the female ones.
