I think the US and all former European colonial powers suck at picking the winners and losers in the Middle East. Sadaam Hussein was a brutal guy. But he was also sitting on a powder keg of ethnic and tribal disunity in Iraq. We did not really help the situation short term. Long term, things have clamed down a bit. The worst thing about our overthrow of the Baath Party was that we knew the whole "Weapons Of Mass Destruction" justification was a lie. Doesn't say much for us.

Thought was unnecessary and bad idea from beginning. but when people voted Bush, they should have known he'd make retribution against guy that threatened his father. Ya can't do much about stupidity and mind control sometimes.. and it's a disaster.
