Have you ever found out someone close to you wasn't who you believed they were?

The other night I found out my mangers son who was also a good friend of mine during my 4 years at the company has been sentenced to four years in prison for being a pedophile. He basically was messaging a 9 year old posing as a 12 year old and asking for nudes. When the police caught him they found he'd been talking to other young girls and had pictures of children as young as 5 on his phone. Just thinking about it makes my stomach churn.

He was arrested in October and let out on bale till last week when he was sentenced. I only found out yesterday night about this when I opened my phone I thought it was some sick joke.

He dated some of my friends and I always thought he was a ladies man but never anything harmful. Looking back there was so many signs and we all ignored it.

I remember he went off for mental health ad did my manger during the time he got arrested and no one had a clue. We all felt sorry for him and supported him including myself.

I'd often find myself having banter and laughing with this guy and we had a lot of good memories together over the 4 years of working together all for me to find out he was a sick monster.

He left work a couple weeks ago and told us he was going travelling little did we know he was going prison for being a pedo.

I'm still trying to wrap my head around everything, I feel so lied to and sick to my stomach. My heart breaks for them children and there families and for my manger as he is a good man he raised that monster as his own when it was his step son and gave him a good life and he threw it all away on some sick perversion.

All me and my fellow colleagues are still trying to wrap our heads around it all the families involved have been destroyed by a man I believed to be a friend. There's been times we've joked about the situation and gossiped but we are all deeply shook by what's came to light. I see the pictures of him in the news and there's nothing behind them eyes.

I even remember making fun of his new phone as it was a Nokia brick and I implied he was up to something dodgy on it as a joke and he got very defensive and said he didn't need to be using a smart phone or social media turns put his original phone had been taken by police

I feel terrible for the little girls involved but I can't help but feel heart broken him a little. I don't understand why he did what he did at all. It's not the person I knew and he's gonna get eaten alive in jail too. It's all so tragic and I'm afraid one day I'm gonna hear about him being dead. I know what he did was the worst crime imaginable but I can't hate him because I don't know the real him clearly. I feel like the friend I had is dead and his body has been taken over by a evil being
