It’s interesting how narratives shift depending on who’s in office. Under Biden, many conservatives talked about leaving. Under Trump, it’s the opposite. But the truth is, people on both sides have expressed disillusionment with the direction of the country at different points.

That said, buying foreign citizenship isn’t exactly easy or cheap. Most Americans aren’t “escaping”—they’re frustrated. But fleeing isn’t the answer. Reforming, rebuilding, and participating in the system to make it better is.

We need less doom-posting and more courage to engage with the world we live in.
