China i can comprehend but disagree. Even Europe in Trumps eyes, though just as stupid.
What did Trump say his intentions where? He stated that he is imposing a tariff on Canada because they aren't doing enough to curb the flow of fentanyl into the U. S. That means Canada is already in an "opium war" with America. They already fired the first shots and now the U. S. is retaliating. When this happened in China, China was the one trying to suppress the opium trade by foreign powers primarily Britain who had illegally been exporting opium mainly from India into China which resulted in widespread addiction in China causing serious social and economic disruption. Today America is the victim of drug addiction and social and economic disruption via the opioid war and Canada and Mexico are the illegal traders importing fentanyl into the U. S. from China and Heroin from Ukraine via Afghanistan supply chains. Trump has declared a war on drugs and has stated that the cartels are being designated as terrorist organizations and that drug dealers will get the death penalty. That's were we're at. So if Canada wants to continue to be part of that war, they're going to face the full might on the United States.

"In a terse three-paragraph letter sent by the American Embassy in France to French companies, executives were told that President Trump’s moves to eliminate diversity, equity and inclusion policies would apply to any firm doing business with the U. S. government. It said it was giving them five days to sign a form indicating that they would comply." https://www.nytimes.com/2025/03/29/business/france-trump-diversity-inclusion.html

1 yBecause Trump is the kind of guy to pick on those he perceives as weak so he can look and feel like tough guy.
And his worshippers fall for it every time.
What is it they say? A weak man’s idea of a strong man?
Yeah, that’s it.10 Reply

1 yNo one has been attacked yet. Why would Trump want a war with an ally? And why would Congress go along with it?

1 yIt's not that hard to figure out. The trade relationship we have with Canada disadvantages the US considerably (just like the ones we have with Europe and China). The United States does not (and frankly, never has) benefited from being a services-based economy. The only way we became a services-based economy was because we entered into treaties that allowed our corporations to exploit the cheaper labor available in other countries.
That was fine-ish in earlier decades where the rest of the world's economies were a lot weaker than the US economy. US investment brought stability and market activity to those countries. But we no longer in live in that environment.

Significant changes take time. We have already seen decreases in fuel and egg prices though.

Yeah... My trolling bullshit aside, we're in some uncharted waters right now and I'm not sure how much more the less mentally stable members of society will be able to handle.
This situation is exactly what I was concerned about with the possibility of Trump returning to office. I wish there could be more clarity for the general public about where we're headed, but the media is creating too much chaos and noise to most anyone to get a clear picture.
They make too much money by convincing people that the world is being lit on fire. They've already spurned people into actually lighting the world on fire. It's disturbing that they're setting up to do it again. - 1 y
It seems like tech isn't. even safe, so burgers is probably the way to go. Thankfully, I don't need to do that because I'm a lawyer.

A lot of tech jobs are being taken over by AI. The tech industry is huge, so of course there parts of it that are safer than others, but it's not as stable as it used to be.

What are the safest industries? That is a great question... Energy production is probably safe,
Agriculture has a pretty high barrier to entry but I would think it's probably fairly stable if you can start a large enough operation to provide stability. Medicine, direct patient care is always a safe bet, but naturopathic is probably safe these days as well.
What about you? What do you think the safest industries are?

1 yGOP Senators are teaming up with Democrats to oppose Trump Administration’s tariffs on Canada. 🇺🇸🇨🇦 We The People stand with you Canada! 🤝
‘Grave consequences’ can’t actually happen because only Congress can declare war on a nation, The President of The United States of America can only move the troops. That is it.
America is on the move again, Donald Trump is the only one getting in the way though we’ve had him before and we’ll survive this storm when we work together not poke fingers into each other’s eyeballs the way Donald Trump did that to our allies.

1 yif make it all america there's no problem.
he's trying to fix the finances of the country by bringing more manufacturing back here, as we have a huge deficit globally because america is... expensive and often makes bad products (food quality) or is expensive. So trying to fix that to repair our finances.
If anyone counters, he counters back using our so called global position of strength, to re-balance.
It's going to be painful and with some consequences, some of which cannot be repaired.

1 yBecause Canada has tariffs on the U. S. making U. S. goods too expensive for the Canadian people. That is NOT fair trade. It’s time for fair trade again. Europe too…. A car that is $30k here is about $45k in Europe because they have tariffs on US cars AND extra taxes. They do this to protect their auto business.
That’s what Trump is doing. Protecting our auto business by trying to actually make trade fair between countries. It’s not hard to understand. What’s fair is fair.02 Reply- 1 y
Incorrect. There has been tariffs on U. S. goods AND Canadian goods for decades. Canada sells more to the U. S. than the U. S. sells to Canada because of some of these tariffs… after the U. S. sells a certain amount of milk, cheese, butter and eggs Canada puts a 200+% tariff on these items. These are tariffs BEFORE Trump took office.
Free and fair trade shouldn’t have limits.

1 yi saw that coming. nah, we wouldn't go to war with Canada. i think we'd lose honestly. (i don't know much about the Canadian military but they have huge areas that are strategically settled. they could certainly take out DC at any time and half of the country.

@SofaKingsMart but when gas was almost 7-8$ a gallon when Biden was halfway through they had the audacity to say
“ the president is not at fault for gas price”
It’s like they’re hypocrisy has no limits
