It never actually occurred as you think.

During the 1960's when most female rights, and race equality laws were rewritten; as we recognise them now, it was inevitable that sexuality would be among the groups. It's not like there was a special session and law demanding sexual liberation.

Worse of course, all it takes is one look into the past to see how much worse it would be... It's a fact that punishments in the past towards consenting adults was extreme and absurd. Also you don't even need to look in the past, just tell me is the west or east better in terms of human rights...
