President Trump is not ignoring the Constitution. Full stop. Prove why you think he is.

He is correctly delegating compliance to the court order to the determination of Justice Department and he may comply with their advise. Or he may not. The "I don't know" is as he awaits input from the Justice Department. He is not expected to be a Constitutional scholar. He hires lawyers for that.

He has the power to ask El Salvador to return an El Salvadorian citizen, not to order them. He cannot tell foreign countries what to do with their citizens.

Under Article II, Section 1, Clause 1, all executive power is vested only in a single person—the President of the United States. Full stop. No court, has any direct authority or authority over The Executive. Only impeachment, Amendment 25 and assassination can control him.

Soon, President Trump will disallow all nationwide federal court rulings. It's going to be fun.

Because he (and you) know that's not the question he's really being asked. It's not a question of whether he needs to uphold the constitution. Obviously the answer is that he does. The question really being asked is whether he needs to adhere to your interpretation of the Constitution. And that is a question for the lawyers.

The problem is that question is not a general question and specific about deporting illegal aliens. So does the constitution give rights to non citizens? Some believe it does, which is kind of absurd when you think about it.

So he is taking the approach that he is not sure and leaving that up to his legal team to figure out and probably take it all the way to the supreme Court.
