But I’m curious about how it goes in Italy considering you guys were on the other side at that time

Well here in Italy it doesn't get celebrated and right now Italy has its eyes on the conclave and on who will be the next new Pope. However I consider the UK my second home and there its a national holiday and it does get celebrated with fireworks and planes flying over the sky and also Winston Churchills Speech being read in front of a million people and it being broadcasted on national tv.

Today 8th May is Victory in Europe Day, and 2025 is 80 years since the end of the Second World War.

President Truman announced V-E to the American people, with Germany surrendering on this day.

USA entered the Second World War when Japan, worried about USA joining the War, attacked the Pacific Fleet at Pearl Harbour, but failed to annihilate the shipping etc. in a second wave of bombing, hoping USA would sign a peace treaty.

In 1945 there were Street Parties across US, including New York, Chicago, and New Orleans. Many cities held ceremonies to honor the fallen with wreath laying, and Thanksgiving services for the end of the war.

We don't celebrate it in NZ that I know of. Honestly the first I've heard about it.

Weirdly, we don't celebrate it in the U. S. I need to submit a proposal to Trump. We only celebrate Victory of WWI

It is not celebrated in my country Türkiye (Turkey) because my country didn't join to WW2. We didn't attack any country and any country didn't attack our country. You know Türkiye's jeo-strategic location is so critical that's why remaining neutral in ww2 was very hard for us. A lot of countries tried pulling Türkiye into the war but decision makers in Türkiye were really clever in this process and they succeeded staying out of war with cleverly politics.

I don't think we celebrate it in the US. I've never heard of it till seeing this. I guess it would be more a thing in Europe, Hitler was breathing right down their necks. We never really experienced that in the US.

VE Day is not celebrated in the US. President Trump has just announced a new holiday Victory in Wirld War I Day... but it won't be a federal holiday where banks close and people have the day off from work.

It doesn't exist in Switzerland first of may is the day of the worker where they have marches for workers rights and stuff but may 8th is not a holiday here.

The anniversary is not made a big deal around here. We note it buy we don't dance in the streets anymore. May 8th 1945 was a great day. When is the other August 13th?
