If men are supposed to earn more than women and tax receipts show this, why is most advertisement aimed at women and not men?

It's long established that men earn more than women in average. That women also tend to stay at home so don't have their own earnings and rely on others to spend. More men work so men ought to be more targeted by advertisers but that isn't the case.

How come?
