Why are the places where republicans are so underdeveloped and bigoted? New York, Washington, California, Oregon are the best states in America. The worst are Kansas, Texas, etc. What do you think?

I think it’s the nature of those places and the sheltered and frankly primitive lifestyle you’re brought up under. You don’t get exposed to much, you’re less worldly, education is poor, the economy is poor, the people are often poor, so you’re frustrated, and humans love to blame-shift.

I feel like it’s just tough to be an evolved, modern human when you have these places and people having to be dragged kicking and screaming into the future. And history always remembers them as wrong. They like to claim Lincoln as theirs (he was racist in his own right though, to be fair), but that’s back pre-“Southern Strategy” when Republicans were liberal and Democrats were conservative. But Conservatives (regardless of which party they dominated at whichever time) were wrong about slavery, wrong about women’s suffrage, wrong about Civil Rights, and they’re wrong yet again with this MAGA movement, with the entire world either laughing at us or looking on in horror, and these people are just like “No, Trump is awesome, Europeans are just pussies, who cares what they think?”

The MAGA movement is a level of dumb that I honestly just was not prepared for…and I’m someone who is already pretty disdainful of the stupidity of the average person, I thought I was already at the floor, but there was another hidden chamber under the basement. I sure hope this is the last one and there’s not another trap door leading to an even deeper level of depravity.

Anyway…. that kind of shit just tends to hold you back in life. But they’re scared of the outside world and anything different from what they’re used to, and they silo themselves off and aren’t exposed to a variety of people who don’t just nod in agreement when your argument is just based in “well, the Bible says….”

I’m really not trying to be disrespectful for the sake of disrespect, I’m really not. Some of those places and their people have redeeming qualities and can be charming, and all that. But one thing I try to live my life by, as someone with the built-in privilege of being a straight white guy in America, is to not judge people’s character by how they treat ME. That’s easy to treat me well, I check all the boxes of conservatives’ “normal”, in terms of intangible characteristics.

If I lived next door to Derek Chauvin, he might’ve been a great guy, TO ME, and be someone who waved to me when I’m pulling out of my driveway, and talked football with me while we’re outside doing lawn work, or loaned me an appliance for a household task. And he STILL might go to work and unnecessarily kneel on George Floyd’s neck until he died. THAT’S what I’ll judge him by, not our friendly interpersonal interactions. Being nice to me is no absolving factor.

So these people in the Deep South, if they met ME, they might invite me in for a sweet tea. But if I didn’t look like me, and had different intangible physical features, I might be met with a shotgun by these same “friendly” people, told to “git off muh prawpurty”, based on nothing but what I look like and what they irrationally associate that with.

they exist but are far outnumbered. in NY, they create democrats in the school ssytems. It's necessary to be democrat there because people live off the city and so much social service is required. trouble is, they function by taking from those whom work.

can't speak to other areas... democrats are being created by way of the media and school policies. We don't teach freedom here, we teach enslavement at all levels... diet, food, marketing. We are creating mindless robots except for those with enough support to think outside the system.

You realise people are fleeing new York, LA, San Francisco, detroit, chicago, baltimore, boston, detroit Washington DC for Texas, kanas, colarado, new Mexico, florida and so on because of the crime, bad governance, high taxes, low employment rate, high property taxes, high rents, high mortgages, low wages etc. I mean most black people live in the American south and more are fleeing there.

The type of people who follow the Right Wing have for a long time been known to have lower educational achievement, less empathy and poorer reasoning skills. Oh and the best places to live you mentioned are also high cost of living places with super high drug addiction, super high homelessness, and super high crime rates. So yeah I will stay where I am, so that my cost of living stays low and I don't have to deal with homelessness or crime.
