I do think President Trump should be removed from office although, oddly, I am not sure impeachment is proper.

Impeachment is an accusation by Congress that a federal official should be removed from office.
In the US Constitution, Article II, Section 4:

The President, Vice President and all civil Officers of the United States, shall be removed from Office on Impeachment for, and Conviction of, Treason, Bribery, or other high Crimes and Misdemeanors.

(Note that Article II is the part of the Constitution discussing the Executive Branch.)

Treason is very specifically defined in the Constitution and that definition is echoed in the United States Code. Trump's not guilty of that.

Bribery... that's hard to prove.

So, this leaves "high Crimes and Misdemeanors".

We could probably impeach Trump on a few of these, but impeachment is not removal from office.

Really, what Trump is "guilty" of is violating his sworn Presidential oath. Per Article II, Section 1, Clause 8:

Before he enter on the execution of his office, he shall take the following oath or affirmation:--"I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will faithfully execute the office of President of the United States, and will to the best of my ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States."

Trump has not done much of this at all this term. He violates the Constitution all the time... But that's not a "crime"! It should be.

I won't say "ideally" because it would not be ideal at all, but it would be the most forceful... The Supreme Court should unanimously issue a statement that it has reason to believe the President Trump is violating his Oath of Office. Especially this Supreme Court since it is conservative. What this would do is alert Congress that impeachment and removal from office may be in order. Moreso, this alerts the US Military to assess its obligation to Trump because continuing to support him would jeopardize their oath of office spelled out in US Code, Title 5.

5 U. S. Code § 3331 - Oath of office

An individual, except the President, elected or appointed to an office of honor or profit in the civil service or uniformed services, shall take the following oath: “I, AB, do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; and that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office on which I am about to enter. So help me God.” This section does not affect other oaths required by law.

Of course, Trump would need due process and that's what the impeachment trial is for.

The downside with the SCOTUS chiming in on this is that it can appear partisan and, worse, the Chief Justice is the "trial judge" at an impeachment trial in the Senate.

It's unfortunate, but what is needed is someone high in government and impartial and not a stakeholder to make such a statement. Ideally, I think it would be a published open letter to the public signed by all living ex-Presidents that they believe Trump has violated the Presidential Oath of Office. After all, they are the only other living persons who have taken that oath and they understand in a way like no other what it means and what is at stake.

Drumpf didn’t approve anything. He doesn’t have to approve a sovereign nation’s actions. Even if he approves of their actions, there’s a big difference between those terms.
Switzerland’s isolationist stance of neutrality on foreign conflict is grand. Some might even suggest haughty. However, it has never prevented global conflicts. It hasn’t even kept Switzerland entirely out of global conflicts.
