People who use blinking crosswalks are assholes. Agree or disagree?

Question

They act as if it’s gonna kill them to wait a few seconds to walk across the street. Instead, they think it’s necessary to officially stop traffic in order for them to walk across the street. They do this in areas where the speed limit is like 35 mph, and expect drivers to come to a sudden screeching halt just because they need to cross the street. Wait 4-5 seconds for traffic to clear instead of expecting for someone to slam on their brakes. You don’t need to officially stop traffic because you need to cross the street. You are not that important. These people seriously piss me off

This sounds as if a powered traffic participant does NOT have these few seconds to wait in return?

Especially at the low speeds you describe. The trip can't be urgent.

Here in Thailand people see i. e. a red traffic light rather as a suggestion than a ''command''.

You get used to it. What counts in the end is that no one (important) gets hurt.

The assholes in traffic, the way I see it, are those who place ''rules'' over common sense.

Pedestrians have the right of way when they’re lawfully utilizing marked crosswalks.
I can’t tell if you’re trolling with sarcasm or if you’re a psychopath. You post a lot about being begrudged by traffic laws and safety. Maybe you should take the bus until you figure some sh*t out. Ell oh ell!

Disagree - pedestrians and cyclists are vulnerable road users compared to others. They can be assholes but they're not assholes capable of withstanding being hit by two tonnes of metal. That's why I think it's better to give them leeway.
Many asshole associates of the motorist variety take have a tendency to drive like they own the road, those zigzags are almost necessary in some places.

It can't be as bad as lights!

I don’t think you realize that jaywalking, AKA walking on a crosswalk when it’s not safe, is not only highly unsafe but it’s also illegal. You can get over waiting 15 seconds for someone to cross the street alive, that’s such an entitled attitude to have.

I do this everyday to cross the street in front of my house. Made me laugh cuz it is a 35mph road but people still drive dangerously on it. Sorry but me and my kids are that important and we wanna cross the street safely

UK here. It's the law that cars have to stop for pedestrians. Especially at pedestrian crossings. If they have a foot on the crossing you have to stop. If that kind of thing bothers you, you probably shouldn't be driving.

Traffic might not clear any time soon. Do you want to stand in >100 heat less than 100 yards from the building you are to enter, but it's across the street.
