Why are women so insistent nowadays on saying "We don't need men"?

There was a video I came across couple of months ago on YouTube. The youtuber asked some men on the street, "Do men need women?" Every one of them said "Yes" and explained why. Showed lot of respect and appreciation. Then the youtuber asked some girls on the street the same question. Every one of them said "No" and had the kind of expression that said "Pfft! Why would we need them. We can do everything! We earn!"

I found it very sad. Most girls/women these days think that they're financial independent, so they can take care of themselves. Maybe they've been hurt and betrayed by wrong kind of guys in the past and built a wall up so they don't seem needy or vulnerable that's why they're saying that but to say men are not needed is sort of wrong considering it's not just about partners the dude was asking. Men are fathers, brothers, son, your teacher, doctor, police, etc. I mean, I'm sure some of these men must have helped them in life and brought something positive. They must have relied on them. So, to say men are not needed just sounds unfair because men contribute a lot in many ways.

Agree with @Apple1996 about how women used to need men for survival so relationships were not built on love and choice.

I think women say they don't need men as a way of trying to get respect from men. Like... "I don't need you but I want to be with you". Men don't hear it that way though. It should be a good thing. Men always complain about feeling used by women. For the resources we used to need to have them for. So now things are more "equal" it should be good. It should say "I don't need you" and give worth in being chosen.
I agree the Men vs women thing goes too far and is a huge problem these days. Being equals should bring us together in relationships but instead puts us at war and in competition.

Technically if men just disappeared from the world today, women might get by, but it would be much more difficult. Without men doing all the jobs women would never want to do, infrastructure would fall apart. There are a lot of women in the arts and service industry, but without the infrastructure to support them, they wouldn't even be able to do that.

The thing is, men would never say "We don't need women." Because we respect women and the value they bring to our lives. It's women that seem to not think the same. If you watch the videos I posted, you'd see the context.

There's plenty of men that might not say they don't need women but that's not from a place of respect for women. Thats because men want sex with women. And need them for child birth. And child rearing. That's again not appreciation. That's "oh God I don't want that responsibility" so women are viewed as servants to do tasks they don't want and be used. Just like yes a world without men would be hard, a world without women would be too. Because both sees have a part to play. It's just women's part has always been minimised as less important instead of equal importance but different.

To use an analogy... if we imagine men ad the hunters and women as gatherers, because gathering is gentle (sowing and gathering crops, keeping home and hearth running) iits seen as lesser than the "toygh" strong dangerous role of travelling far, killing and protecting. This role is a dominant role so it is considered dominant in necessity and power. But both are of equal importance. Right?

Other than companionship and reproducing... we don't need women. Men pretty much do EVERYTHING. Build, design, maintain, invent, grow, harvest all of society.

Even the women who are "strong and independent" and who say they don't "NEED NO MAN"... they sure seem to have a LOT to say and think about his career and his salary. If they don't need him... why do obsessed with him making XYZ dollars before you can date him.

You got your own job independent lady. Don't worry about his job. You don't need no man so you don't need to worry as to whether he makes 50,000, 100,000 or something else. That is HIS job. You don't need him remember?

There are many women in this world that have had to learn to live without men because men have either walked away or been taken from them for one reason or the other so this phrase has become their Mantra. A self defense mechanism because many women have simply lost trust in men.

When you go to the police, it's primarily men.

Only about 3% of those who have on-site occupations in skilled trades are women.

Without men in society, infrastructure would completely fall apart. Groceries wouldn't get their food. Any building structures or maintenance needed would never get done, and law enforcement would not exist or be thoroughly reduced.

People would not be able to work from home as they do now.

All I am saying is that many women say this phrase and repeat it out loud to convince themselves that they can survive alone. There's this idea that if you say something long enough it becomes the truth in your world. And even if it's not true it just makes many women feel better.

Men would never say that about women. They respect what they're capable of.

We can all technically live alone. There are tons of people who have. Literally living in little remote huts just doing their own thing, farming their own crops, making their own clothes, cooking their own food, doing their own maintenance... everything.

But life is better sharing experiences with others. And we all help each other out as best as we can. That's what being a community is about.

Most likely they say it because their mother/grandmother/women in previous generations needed men to survive like women litterally couldnt have jobs, a bank account, anything without having a man. So technically in modern times women can live independently without men if they chose to. Its a choice only the most recent generation of women have been given.

I guess all of these nurses and school teachers and seamstresses and in more modern times secretaries, assistants, phone operators... etc. were all in my head.
I could swear those are jobs.

You probably meant that most women had families and desired that and before birth control pills having sex meant babies so if couples were having lots of kids... they would need to be with the family instead of getting a bunch of degrees and slaving for a boss out in the stressful world.

Biology is the architect of that. There was no law that women cannot work.

Why do you want to though? Other than the feminists beating you over the head with this concept, why do you want to stress and travel to and from a job 40-50 hours a week and deal with the stress and toil rather than to have a family? What is the goal there?

Women have never had it so good. Women of old had to WORK, wash their own clothes, grow there own food, start their own fires and cook everything from scratch, wash all the pots and pans... etc.

Now there are refrigerators, dish washers, electric ovens, grocery stores replete with endless food, motorized cars and transportation, all knowledge in available immediately on their phones. Videos and pads to keep kids occupied.

The load of "work" at home has never been this light.

@Miristheiss staying at home and caring for family/kids/chores is still a shit ton of work. And tbh a lot of those inventions created more work to keep up with than what they had back then. As a mom myself its a lot more work in comparison to going to work. I've thought about getting a job for a break but I just do not trust leaving my kids being cared for by other people
