World Population Over Time - a Visualization

This illustration shows how world population has changed over time. The blue grains of sand at in the top section of the hourglass show the approximately 8 billion people alive today, while the red grains in the bottom section show the approximately 109 billion people who have died during human history.

This chart is one of the greatest instances of the fact that we all should be very humble about ourselves. Because of the reality of consciousness which observes the universe only from its window, instincts we are born with, teachings of our family and some culturel aspects we are exposed; we tend to think that we are the main character. But on the cosmic scale, this is not true. I dont know which point of view works best for you but in this situation, being humble seems to me a response both most logical and most useful in terms of seeking the truth and the goal of cognitive growth.

I think this shows how recent our population boom has been.
This is not a part of this visualisation but it reminds of the regional differences contributing to our population right now and how disproportionate it is even within this 8 billion.
Birth rates seem to be declining across the board though, even below replacement levels in many places. So I'm sure if we do have an overpopulation problem, we could be our own solution maybe lol

What'll really bake your noodle is when you think about the staggering amount of people that have yet to be born.

This chart you posted in conjunction with this video just further demonstrates to me God's existence. Because when you think how vast the universe is and how small Earth is comparatively. Yet how varied humans are from our genes to our personalities. It shows how insignificant yet precious each one of us are.

That it doesn't properly emphasize how rapidly the global population is expanding and how much of a problem that is. It is frankly horrifying that people still treat human life as though it were somehow valuable when at this point it has NEGATIVE value.

We hav e too many people on the planet. They are everywhere. We are building on every inch of real estate, yet there is a housing shortage. There is not a housing shortage, just too many people

that's why we need to promote more natural and artificial flavorings... globally, as well as food dyes, promote LGBTQ parties and in 1st grade books, etc etc..
