I’d rather be living in Antarctica doing some research peacefully. I hate how they treat people, especially fellow Indians.
636 opinions shared on Society & Politics topic. No, most Indians in the US are very well mannered and educated. Although from my travels I got to know that ones from less privileged social classes are a little different...
I don't hate anyone, unless they're an asshole to me. I don't hate people just based on race or nationality.

You should live in India as an Indian to find out. They usually have servile attitudes towards white people

11 moAm an Indian and I do get why we get bashed for our behavior. We're racist against others until we meet a white person. We indulge to target people in our own country and brand them as anti-nationals when they speak up. We say we worship our rivers but they are the most polluted rivers in the world. We say that we are superior than others owing to our uber Nationalism, yet we lose our minds when someone shows us our place. I find it very hard to know people who actually make sense.

Mob psychology is very hard to decipher. Publicly, people behave in a way they want others to see them often not reflective of the way they may really feel. And while it often comes off as illogical, it isn't necessarily irrational. Often it is out of fear of being socially rejected and outcast by their own society or, in some more oppressive countries out of fear of persecution if they don't conform to the government agenda.
In America, we have probably more freedom of speech than in any other place as it is a fundamental tenet of our culture. But even here, there is the same kind of self-serving "virtual signaling" and conforming speech that you are describing. I see that as evidence that the behavior is human nature rather than specific to any particular culture. You see this behavior everywhere in the world, but perhaps more in some places than others due to differences in how important people find it to conform to the socially and politically acceptable norm.
Kudos to you for recognizing this puzzling behavior even within your own culture and having the courage to call it out. That is the kind of thinking free societies are built upon. - 11 mo
@RingOfFire it's the Modi government that has been brainwashing people, making the majority of the population feel threatened by the minority and hence justifying the crimes of the majority against the minority. The indoctrination of hate is beyond limits. India tops fake news circulation which is then used to aid their agenda. Makes Indians feel insecure, weak, fragile, irrelevant and hence the frustration and taking pride over things by any means necessary to pat themselves on their backs.
Yes, I completely get what you mean by "virtue signalling" there. At some places, it arises due to regionalism, at others, ethnicity makes you do that, still at others, nationality, religion and language can be put to use for that purpose. But it is all non sense when someone looks at it closely. Owning something is a different thing, demeaning others because they don't have it while feeling arrogant over yours is completely another thing. It only creates more problems and gives you an unnecessary sense of superiority. It looks even more dumb when it's based upon fake history and when people ignorantly believe it to be true.

11 mohonestly yes. I used to do home repair work. they are the worst of customers. I got to where I wouldn't' even work for them, there was no point. it's the culture. Some are ok, so this is a bias I developed.
and then there is the whole caste system. I'd like to see that ended, it's disgusting.
beyond that, I like the indians I've met in some ways. but if they take over the usa, the old culture is in trouble. they are taking over tech...

839 opinions shared on Society & Politics topic. i have mixed feelings about indian men, a lot of them are pretty sexist and dangerous to women/girls. but then a lot are totally normal too. out of the 4 indian men i knew personally, 1 would beat and mistreat his wife & ex wife and was a misogynist (my mom was close friends with the wife). i've been harassed in the street by indian looking men too. i dont have any bad thoughts about indian women though, they're pretty sweet.

They're invariably terrible at any kind of adventure- or water-sports (around 96% of British Asian adults can't swim, so understandably, they are also not confident in the water, even with buoyancy aids etc). Added to that, for supposedly intelligent people (many of them are doctors, dentists, etc), they often have a staggering lack of common sense and general awareness, and are seemingly more interested in taking selfies than anything else.
A couple of weeks ago, two young women drowned in some Welsh mountain pools that are popular with instagrammers, and there was a lot of speculation about how exactly it could have happened - was it the temperature shock, or a strong current, or something else? My immediate thought was "I bet they were Indians". And as it turned out, they were Pakistani medical students.
Back in May, an Indian guy had gone missing in the same National Park, and was eventually found dead. It's really not a dangerous place (I've spent a lot of time there myself), but these people are just hopeless.

11 moNo, I don't have a "phobia" of Indians.
However, I will interject that I hope Indian men would improve their diet and hygiene habits in order to prevent body odor.
Additionally, some Indian men have pervert tendencies online and even up close and personal.
Why can't they be like the Indian women who are generally positively opposite in manners?
Nonetheless, I'm glad to have numerous Indian friends.

11 moI don't have a phobia of Indians but I have a phobia of India. It seems very dirty and unhygienic. I would be afraid to eat food there when I see how it is prepared. There seems to be a different standard of cleanliness than in America.
