Florida is refurbishing an old training base / airport in the Florida Everglades to be used to house the worst of the worst illegal aliens. I hate when people put labels, “the right” or “the left” because it is demonizing the other side and inviting the strongest voices against the opposition rather than inviting a genuine discussion or a much needed solution to a problem. Same reason why I hate debates, over discussions.
Now with that out of the way, I would like us as a society to fix the issues that plague it rather than build new prisons. Mental health struggles, poverty rates increasing, war on drugs, and more all contribute to the opening of new prisons in America which is awful because we could be devoting resources towards fixing the epidemic. Prisons are the symptom, what we need is a prevention method of the disease.
Now on the topic of immigration, I believe make immigration easier not harder also more affordable so those facing the need for cancer treatment they can’t get at their country of origin, asylum seeking easier for those being persecuted, a method instead of having to send your child to the border to get all family members in, etc.
We can achieve great things when we work together to achieve them.
I would rather see these things in place under a Republican Presidency than to not happen at all. And I stand by that because it would be an American achievement, I don’t care about Political Party Affiliation being the achievers. It would be an American achievement.
TLDR: “Left” and “Right” labels just invite a forum of sh*tting on one another rather than an ‘adult’ discussion. Prison systems of US are fueled by crisis that all need to be solved in order to lessen the amount of prisons we have to open to house an ever growing number of prisoners. Make immigration easier legally and more cost effective with programs to aide the crisis on the border. I would see these as an American achievement, and would rather GOP pass it than not having it pass at all since it is a much needed step in the modern history of our country because I feel so deeply about it.
